"It's a crazy situation," Vick said. "I don't know why people with power would make them dress the way that they want them to dress. Those guys are professionals, but at the same time we are all grown [men]. I don't think anyone should tell you how to dress, but that is the code and that is what they want and that is what the players have to abide by," Vick said. "I totally disagree with it, but the people make the rules." - Michael Vick on the NBA's new dress code. You mean to say that employers are asking their employees to dress a certain way when representing the company? That's so CRAZY!!! I guess I shouldn't be surprised by what comes out of the mouths of millionaire athletes anymore. Someone might want to tell Michael that a dress code is not uncommon in the workplace. To say that professional athletes are grown is a sweeping generalization that I can't accept when I sit down and read sports news. There are too many stories about an athlete using an alias to spread sexual diseases or messing around with underage girls for me to think that an athlete is grown because he's over 18. I judge an athlete's manhood by his character which is usually evident by his ability to stay off of smokinggun.com. However, no one is actually forcing anyone to abide by the dress code. If a professional athlete isn't making money to offset the suffering of a dress code, they could always quit and get a job doing something else.
I agree... If I were paid millions of dollars to throw a ball in a basket, I would wear whatever they wanted me to. Hell, I'd play ball in a freaking chicken suit. These athletes are ridiculus, grow up. If the commish wants you to look professional instead of like youre about to rob the place, I dont think it should be a big deal. These athletes act like a bunch of little kids.
Real men wouldn't complain about having to wear suits and ties to work. Real men would understand that image does count for something. Real men would realize that they are getting paid by the public for what is essentially a trivial job. They should be greatful to the leagues for doing such a good job marketing their trivial jobs.
I wouldnt describe most athletes as "real men"... If they dont get what they want when they want it, they will cry like little girls about it. These athletes need to grow up and take responsibility.
Take responsibility? For What???? You just said they are getting paid for a trivial job yet we still pay and without them we would be without that entertainment they provide. I agree that a certain dress code should be applied at certain times but hell they are people aswell. When "represnting the company" means what exactly?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Hawk)</div><div class='quotemain'>You know, this whole dress code thing seems to make a bigger deal than it should be...</div> I agree, but the players are causing a stink and the media is looking for their next story. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (favre4mvp)</div><div class='quotemain'>Hell, I'd play ball in a freaking chicken suit.</div> Get a picture of that, and you can make that my new avitar.

So they are representing the NBA as a company. They are also representing the integrity of the game. like others have said i have no clue why nba players are making such a big deal about absolutly nothing with this dress code, Wear nice cloths... OH NO ANYTHING BUT THAT. jeez millions of dollars for doing what they do like favre4mvp said i'd wear a freakin chicken suit if they asked me
Vick's comment was stupid and honestly the whole situation is stupid. All the players have to do is follow the dress code just as anyone would have to at their place of work, no one is telling them how to dress outside of the NBA. This would be a positive improvement for the NBA but its being made into a negative issue, all for nothing.

Being from Ireland and spending the summer in Chicago I noticed you have a massive problem with it and I won't get into it but i think it is disgraceful.
If you think peoples dress is so disgraceful then why didnt you have a problem with the players dressing like they are? They are the ones getting kids to dress like "thugs"...
Who else was impressed by Vick's 0 passing TD/3 Interception/13.0 QB rating game last night? Yeah, he scored two rushing TDs... But those are hardly "Star QB" numbers. (Who will be the first Falcons fan to chime in with "A win's a win?")
I must say I wouldn' want someone telling me what to wear. So I don't blame the players for complaining a little. It is blown out of proportion. I mean what, you wear it for 10-15 minutes and thats it. It's not like if your going to the store to get food you have to wear a suit.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (porky88)</div><div class='quotemain'>I must say I wouldn' want someone telling me what to wear.</div> Then you probably havent ever been to school or havent ever had a job. They require you to dress a certain way at both places... Its just the way of life.

Dunn had a great night and the defense played well, so I'm happy we won despite Vick's brutal performance. It was out of the norm for him to play that badly, and we did win so I'm not going to complain too much. A win is a win!

Well theres a code of conduct as to what can and can't be wore but normal jeans and a shirt is fine. As for job it depends where. Sometimes yes. Sometimes know. If I were a basketball player and it really doesn't depend on me having to wear a suit like it would if I were a lawyer then I can see why their so ticked off. Like I said before though for 10 minutes it wouldn't kill me. So I can see the reason why they would complain but I can also see the reason why people are saying "Who Cares" Both sides have an arguement....
