Restricted free agent John Salmons, who starred at Plymouth Whitemarsh, also may be gone. Team president Billy King could consider trading everyone from star Allen Iverson to Chris Webber to the underachieving Samuel Dalembert to Kyle Korver as he tries to upgrade with more defensive-oriented players and veteran leaders. Webber, who is scheduled to make $20.7 million in 2006-07 and $22.3 million the following season, is expected to pick up his player option that would allow him to void the final two years and become a free agent. While Webber, 33, might prefer playing somewhere else, he'd get nowhere near the $43 million he's owed on his current deal from another team. ?I haven't even thought about [the player option],? Webber said Wednesday. While Iverson has said he wants to return for an 11th season, King refused to say any player is untouchable. Asked Wednesday if Iverson could have played his last game as a Sixer, Cheeks said: ?I don't know that. We'll sit back, evaluate things and go from there.? </div> link: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/100...006-644862.html
Personally, I think everyone but Andre Iguodala and maybe Dalembert should be on the trade block or be let go. The team is stuck right now with the huge contracts they have and the only way they will get out of it is by getting what they can for their players and rebuilding. I say they draft a point guard with their first rounder, and try to get some young talent at the other positions
If he is focusing on getting defensive-oriented veterans on the roster, then why in the hell is he trading Iverson? That is the sort of supporting cast Iverson would thrive with. Now, if he is focusing on acquiring young talent, then yes, Iverson should probably go.
This will be one of the biggest stories next year. Iverson and Webber are determined to get in cinch at this stage of their careers. Another trade for Webber could be a demotion and a trade for Iverson is an out and out rejection. This will not happen. They have three solid starters and at least a couple of decent backups. The draft should be for a proven college player who can start by January. Personally I think they need a rangy point guard and a defensive stopper or two. AI can play against bigger players and shouldn't be at the point. When Eric Snow was at point they played their best ball. This should get them in the playoffs. Then in 2007-2008, Iguodala could be a star and Philly will have three All-Stars if Webber stays healthy and focused and works hard and sensibly off-season. By that time the ownership should have a very nice assembly of players, have cut opponents' points by at least 8-10 ppg, and be able to go far down the bench and still win games. With a stingy defense and the ability to score which we know they are capable of, why shouldn't Philly be competing with Cleveland, Chicago, Washington and Miami, and maybe still even Detroit for the Eastern Conference? The "Answer" may be to look at the Assistants on some of the defensive powers for a new coach or assistant.

Now that he got paid big time, he cares less than he ever did and never bothers to improve at all. He's a talented, but lazy and selfish player. We don't need those type of players on our team.
