<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to Skiles, the altercation took place in Los Angeles during a bad stretch for the Magic. Coach Brian Hill ripped each player before practice after the Magic had lost to the Clippers the previous day. ''Shaq got into a scrap with one of my teammates,'' Skiles said, ''and I got tired of everybody separating them, so I went over and said, 'Why don't you guys stop [messing around] and just fight?' ''Then he took a swing at me, and that's how that started. It was a melee with a lot of punches landing. Shaq had me by the neck, and I don't know if he hit me, but my neck was sore for six weeks.'' Shaq's memory goes like this: ''He was just acting tougher than he really is,'' O'Neal said. ''And he tried me, and I [messed] him up. ''We had lost to the Clippers, and the next day everybody was trying to be [tough]. I beat his butt. I beat his butt. You know, because he's little, he charged me, and I hit him with a [O'Neal demonstrates a left-right combo].'' O'Neal said Skiles showed him something that day. ''It showed me that he was crazy,'' O'Neal said. That crazy day was long ago, and both laugh at it now while professing a deep admiration for the other. But the competitiveness that led to the altercation still burns, which is a big reason both teams are facing each other in the playoffs.</div> <div align="center"> Source </div> If you do anything today, read this article funny stuff. And in the other corner, standing 6 feet and weighing 185 pounds ? Scott Skiles. Skiles, the Bulls' coach and O'Neal, the veteran Miami Heat center, were teammates with the Orlando Magic in 1992 when they became involved in a fight during practice. Skiles was growing agitated when teammates Larry Krystkowiak and O'Neal argued. Skiles reportedly approached the players with a solution: "Why don't you guys stop talking and just start fighting." Instead, O'Neal redirected his ire toward Skiles, who threw a "haymaker" his way. Skiles wrapped his arms around the mammoth O'Neal and they tumbled into the bleachers. "We were having a rough stretch and a couple of guys got into it a little bit. I went over there and Shaq and I got into it and I attempted to tackle him," Skiles said Friday. "He had me in a pretty good headlock and we kind of stumbled into the seats. It was pretty fun, actually. I was hurt for awhile. I paid the price for it. He didn't pay any price, I know that." Skiles referred to the skirmish as a "routine practice fight." "It wasn't just Shaq and I, we actually had a pretty good team melee," Skiles said. "That was just part of it. And we played much better after that. Shaq and I always were real close teammates. To my knowledge we never had a problem."</div> <div align="center"> Source</div>
