<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese forward Yi Jianlian withdrew from the 2006 NBA draft this summer, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced on Wednesday. The CBA said the Guangdong Hongyuan informed the decision to the Chinese governing body after an executive meeting of the club. "It's not a good time for Yi to play in NBA," said Hu Jiashi, vice president of China's Basketball Administrative Bureau. Hu said the club was afraid that Yi would have little playing time if he could be drafted by any NBA team. According to the statement of the Hongyuan club, Yi agreed on the decision and was ready to be recruited by the national team. Sun Yue, guard of the Beijing Aoshen, announced for the NBA draft, according to local reports. Hu said the CBA received no confirmation from the Aoshen. </div> Source
picture, stats and height stuff...I'm interested in chinese guards..cause its lately been all Centers and Power Forwards... thanks Shape
Jianlian waiting just makes me all the more excited about the Hawks staying in the lottery one more year.
Too bad that Yi couldn't come over this year, but he has a point. With all the college big men available this year, he might not go as high as he could maybe in one or two years, and there's no guarantee right now that he'll get playing time. If he stays in China and reaches Yao's level of dominance in the CBA, Yi could maybe make it as number one pick over Greg Oden. As for Sun, I've taken an interest in him over the past month. He's played in the ABA because of a dispute between his team and the CBA, and he's really intriguing. A 6-9 lefty point guard who is lightning quick and brought me flashes of Josh Smith with his hops and quickness in blocking shots. Sun dominated competition in the ABA in the past season, but the level there is quite low compared to other venues, so take it with a grain of salt. This is a highlight video of the Beijing Aoshen team in their past season in the ABA. Sun is the last player featured in this video, so sit through the first three minutes or so. You'll be treated to a show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFKsiRvFMlE&search=sun%20yue
I'm getting scared, the Chinese will take over someday, we need some more canadian guys in the draft.
Nice video, Locke. Sun looks like he has it all - handle, defense, vertical...I'm surprised there's almost no buzz around him.
