Reporters began asking Jermaine O'Neal about the possibility of playing for the Knicks next season following Tuesday's loss to New Jersey. "The last time I checked, I have five years left on my deal," O'Neal said. "I don't really control where I'm going to play at. I deal with reality, and reality states I have five years left. "I don't really sit back and think about stuff like that because the task at hand for us is already tough enough to deal with; that's winning playoff games. So I don't sit back and think about where I'm going to play." 1His name will likely continue to be mentioned throughout the summer, but the Pacers say they don't have any intention of trading their All-Star player. "I hear a lot of talk about it because my brother lives here and he tells me how they say I'm going to play (with the Knicks) next year," O'Neal said. "I'm not a free agent. If I had to make a choice where I'm going to play next year it would be in Indiana because my contract says so." [READ] Who do u think will have to go for him?
aahh hell no we ain't trading Frey he is our last hope. O'neal will be done in a couple of years frye is still young. I think Marbury and taylor or rose will go.But on the other hand it would be awesome to see Cury and O'neal play toghether may be he can teach him how to rebound.

He's 28 and is in his prime while the chances are Frye will never be half as good as Oneal. So of course the Knicks pack up Frye for Oneal. And we have coaches to teach Curry how to rebound and obviously he doesnt want to rebound otherwise he'd do it. The most realistic scenario that has Jermaine Oneal coming to New York has the Knicks shipping out Frye, Lee, Robinson, Woods, Butler, both picks(maybe even next year's pick) and an expiring contract for Jermaine Oneal and possibly Sarunas Jasikevicius. This trade would give the Knicks a chance to turn the entire franchise around. I wish it would happen but it almost certainly wont. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
Another rumor heating up again is Kenyon Martin to the Knicks. He was just suspended by the team indefinitely, and his feud with George Karl is well documented all season. The Nuggets look lost in the playoffs so far, and they really need a consistent 2nd option next to Melo and someone who can hit from the perimeter. The Nuggets have been interested in both Steve Francis, QRich, and Jamal Crawford in the past. KMart for Francis works straight up.

Martin is arguably the most overpaid player in the league, one of the most overrated and constantly injured. Not to mention he seems to have attitude problems. Ruben Patterson is a must as well as a future pick. Reggie Evans would be nice. Oh yeah they'd have to take Jerome James off our hands as well. If Ruben Patterson and Jerome James are not included then Isiah Thomas shouldnt even talk to Kiki. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

Frye, Jalen Rose, Mo' Taylor, the draft picks, for Jermaine O'Neal and some fillers.

There's a saying,"You cant get something for nothing". And you cant get guys like Jermaine O'neal for a bunch of scrubs. He's a guy who can average 20 points and about 10 rebounds a game along with a couple of blocks. Again he can help this team do a complete 180. We can trade the malcontents(Marbury, Francis, Curry) and expiring contracts(Rose,Taylor) to completely revamp the team and give Jermaine O'neal a strong supporting cast. Trading away our youth core would definetely be worth it if this team can contend for the Atlantic Division crown. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I'm not going to guess their future statistics or anything like that, but I know they will be solid NBA pros. I'm not really willing to give a potential starting lineup for Jermaine O'Neal who, while a very good player entering his prime, has shown signs of breaking down (only 51 games this season) and hasn't been too good in the playoffs over his career. Expiring contracts, draft picks, and a few of our young guys are okay, but not the whole core. If Jermaine O'Neal continues this trend of injuries, what will we have to fall back on? I think we're giving the Pacers too much compensation.

Because the players you have listed above are future role players and career reserves that probably will never be a consistent starter in this league and most certainly wont save this franchise. I dont think you quite understand the gravity of the Knicks situation. We have no picks. The Knicks are coming off the worst season in franchise history and they dont have their pick. The Bulls will be significantly better next season so next year's pick will be a late first rounder most likely that wont help us significantly. We still owe Pheonix a pick because of the Marbury trade. The Knicks are over the cap and the only way to improve is through trades. If the Knicks dont trade, the Knicks wont get better and without draft picks there is no consolation prize for being awful. Unless something drastic happens like the trade I mentioned above the Knicks are going to be bad for a very long time. I'm talking Warrioresque long time. So whether or not Jermaine O'neal is indeed breaking down doesnt really matter because if he's healthy he can make a difference. The youth core in the end wont make a difference. If O'neal does get hurt and is out for the season we'll be bad. But if the team stays the same the Knicks will certainly be bad and without a draft pick the Knicks cant afford to be bad. You are ridiculously overestimating our young players. Neither of them will turn into a real difference maker and if they wont make a difference why keep them? The point of trades is not to get back equal value. The point of trades is to improve the team as much as possible. This trade is low risk and high reward. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

Isiah would be stupid not to jump on Francis for Martin...IMO Denver would ask for a bit more though.</div> There are varying degrees of overpaid. Steve Francis may be a little overpaid but K-Mart might be the most overpaid player in the league. And there are also varying degrees of overratedness. Steve Francis is indeed a little overrated. Kenyon Martin is stupidly overrated(especially his defense). He's an above average big man when he's healthy and not playing alongside Kidd. No more no less. Just another glorified garbage man and that's when he's healthy. Adonal Foyle gives you more bang for your buck. Have you been watching the Nuggets in the playoffs? Or even the regular season? First of all the Nuggets are drastically better when he doesnt play. Second of all his contract is 91 million dollars! Wrap your head around that. 91 million dollars! Thirdly he is constantly injured and doesnt do anything any of the other Denver big men dont do. Even when he's healthy he is ridiculously overpaid, add in the fact that he's injury prone, and seems to be a cancer and you have someone who is for all intents and purposes immovable. Then there are the other factors to consider besides Martin being an injury prone bum with a bad attitude and one of the worst contracts of all time. Denver has to resign Francisco Elson, Nene, Reggie Evans this season. Those are the players who so far have been outperforming Kenyon Martin this season. And soon their going to have to give Carmelo Anthony a large amount of money. They need to move Kenyon Martin so they can afford their other more productive players. And another factor to consider is who else is willing to take on Martin's outlandish contract? Tell me because I really want to know what team would be willing to take on that financial burden along with his lousy attitude and bad knee. Kenyon Martin's value has taken a huge nosedive this season. An expiring contract would be enough to get Kenyon Martin although I dont know anyone who would be silly enough to trade an expiring contract for Kenyon Martin with the exception of Isiah Thomas of course. Any GM who is willing to take Kenyon Martin from the Nuggets can demand anyone else on the team short of Andre Miller, Carmelo, Camby, and Nene. A Steve Francis for Kenyon Martin swap has the Nuggets making out like bandits. They lose a potential cancer, a God awful contract and an injury prone player that serves absolutely no purpose and whose sole positive contribution comes when he doesnt play(18-5 without K-Mart this season I believe) And they get exactly what they need in Steve Francis. A solid scoring guard that can take up some of the scoring load from Carmelo's shoulders and free up some money to retain their free agents. Whereas the Knick add on more salary and more years and another potential cancer to the circus. Like I said the Nuggets make out like bandits. Anybody not blinded by the hype K-Mart accumulated in New Jersey can see that. Now that I think about it not only would the Nuggets have to take Jerome James and give us Ruben Patterson, I also want a first round pick. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
omg why do we need K-Mart god damn. Everytime someone garbage wants to get traded he always comes to NY this is like a curse.

Frye has shown absolutely nothing besides a midrange jumper. And I mean absolutely nothing. No rebounding, no defense, no shot blocking, no low post game, no special ability to pass the ball and no ability to create his own shot. Nate Robinson is a 5'7" shooting guard. It's hard enough for a player of that stature to start when he can run the point let alone when he's a shooting guard. Nate Robinson will most certainly not be a starter in this league unless he finds himself alongside a point guard in a shooting guard's body. David Lee could indeed average a double double but so can Reggie Evans and he isnt a consistent starter. Butler has shown flashes but not enough to think he'll be a quality starter. A nice backup? Yes. Starter? No. And I doubt that Qyntel Woods will ever start on a good team. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">We don't have our lottery pick, but we do have a 20th pick and a 29th pick. At this point it's impossible to say which one is more likely. But since the Knicks are picking at the end of the first round it makes sense to pick him because of his upside but I wouldnt bet the farm on it. Rudy Fernandez is more of a complimentary player. It is unlikely that he'll ever be a star. And in case you havent noticed, All Stars that get traded for expiring contracts usually have alot of baggage. You want to count on a bunch of future role players and career reserves with the future of this franchise? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Why can't five promising players make a difference? I dont care about their numbers. I watch them play and draw my conclusions about their future based on their play. Frye is extremely limited other than knocking down the midrange jumper when someone else draws a double team. If that is the extent of a player's game then they are role players. Anybody, role player or All Star, can score 30 points if they get enough shots. Robinson's inability to run the point guarantees he will come off the bench on just a regular bad team. Butler will almost certainly be a career reserve on a playoff team and the same goes for David Lee. How am I underestimating them? Do you disagree that Robinson cant run the point? Do you disagree that all Frye can do is knock down wide open midrange jumpshots? Tell me how I'm underestimating them? Would you rather be bad and keep the young players? Because what you're suggesting is a lose-lose situation. The goal isnt to stock up on as many young players as possible. The point is to win. Frye, Lee, Butler, Woods, Robinson will not get this team into the playoffs. They just wont. They simply dont have what it takes. They may turn into solid backups but that's it. If we do my proposed trade then the Knicks could be really good or they could be really bad. If nothing happens then the Knicks will be really bad for a very long time. I dont know about you but I'd much rather pull a big trade off and give myself the chance to be successful than do nothing and stay bad. But that's just me. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
We would have to trade like Eddy Curry and Marbuy for him and the cap space doesnt work. I dont know who else to trade for him though.
