This was borne from being home sick (and partly delusional because I cant see this one actually going through even though all the numbers work). Here is the realGM trade id so you can check it out 3059528here are the details: Leaving from Minn: Garnett to sacramento Troy Hudson to ATL Going to Minn: Kenny Thomas Vitaly Potapenko Joe Johnson Josh Childress Change in team outlook: +10.5 ppg, +4.8 rpg, and +3.7 apg. Leaving Sacramento Mike Bibby Kenny Thomas Vitaly Potapenko Sergei Monia Ronnie Price Going to Sacramento Keven Garnett Change in team outlook: -16.0 ppg, -2.1 rpg, and -4.8 apg. Leaving ATL Joe Johnson Josh Childress Going to ATL Mike Bibby Sergei Monia Ronnie Price Troy Hudson Change in team outlook: +5.5 ppg, -2.7 rpg, and +1.1 apg. some notes that need to be looked at.. the +/- on the outlook is very skewed for Sac. Here's why: Sacramento doesnt play Potapenko Monia or Price except in junk time. so take their stats away & it really looks more like -8.4ppg +2.3 rpg and -3.4apg. It does look like Minn would get the short end of the stick in this scenario, but part of the reason I was looking at this is because of Garnett being unhappy with the current situation. I really think that Minny would want to get more out of a deal for garnett than this... but if he were to demand a trade in the off season, this would do it. Sac would not want to get rid of Bibby, but I think if they could find a way to get their hands on Garnett without loosing any of their other key players they would do it in a heartbeat. ATL would love to have a go-to guy like Bibby and a back court of bibby and hudson while on the small side, would look pretty good. Like I said, the numbers all work and there are reasons for all to say yes on this deal, but the likelyhood of it going through are slim to none. I personally really like the idea of Sac having the following starting lineup: 1. Martin 2. Wells 3. Artest 4. Garnett 5. Milller with Rahim as your 6th man.... That would be one hell of a starting lineup that could play inside and out. Sac would loose the threat of bibby off the pick and roll, but the presense of 3 low post players and miller initiating the offense from the top of the key would work well with these players. ok... now please feel free to tear up my ideas....
Why would Atlanta give up Josh Childress and Joe Johnson...and recieve only Hudson. Really bad trade idea.

Quoting NbaBaller:

Why would Atlanta give up Josh Childress and Joe Johnson...and recieve only Hudson. Really bad trade idea.
its readily apperent you didnt really read the whole thing. re-read it and try again.
Oh ok I got it now. Still I don't think ATL or Minny will want that trade. Minny...Im sure can find a better trade...because they practically get raped in the deal for Garnett. As for Atlanta....I think they would trade Childress if they find a good deal but as for Johnson, Im sure they want to keep him for now. I mean they did sign him to huge contract so I don't think they plan on trading him very soon.
quite honestly, I dont see Garnett going ANYWHERE for the same reasons you have pointed out. its just that they are just not going to get an equal talent for Garnett... if they trade him they are going to have to look at what they can do with separate parts rather than getting equal talent. as for ATL I think Bibby and Hudson would be considered a good enough deal to move both of those players. (but hey... im on medications today...what do i know???)
Get well soon HarbingerofDoom, being on meds is the worst. Atlanta gives up quite a bit for Mike Bibby, I think the Kings would have to include some picks to pry Joe Johnson away. Remember Atlanta not only overpaid to get JJ, they also traded Diaw and two future first round picks to the Suns. The Kings obviously get the best part of this deal. KG teaming with Artest would be dominating on both ends of the court. I'm not sure if they would have money to bring back Bonzi Wells, but with or without him that starting 5 can get the Kings into the Finals. As a Laker fan, I hope it never happens.
well... the way I constructed the trade was based on next years reported salaries for all involved players (which also assumed a sign & trade in one case i believe). Assuming this, they would be able to offer Wells a contract and the chance to play in that Kind of lineup in the offensive dominated western conference would look good to any player. I suppose that part would depend on if Wells was only looking at the dollars and going after a max deal... as for the picks? id give them up in a heartbeat. The last two years have been the only ones in the sacramento era that really appear to have worked out for them anyway... (and besides, I dont think you really need to worry about this one happening shape....but it does get the mind going.... hmm.... where did I put petrie's email address....)

Quoting lessthanjake:

BK conciders JJ almost combletely untouchable. he's one of the most versatile players in the NBA, and he's not done getting better.
probably so.. im sure given time I would be able to work a trade with a team other than ATL using the same players which might make a bit more sense for the third team involved.

Quoting CLos:

Sacramento would never get rid of Mike Bibby. Sorry bout downing your thread but its true.
thats what was said about Divac.... thats what was said about Webber... thats what they said about Stojakovic and that was the general consensus (from most) about Adelman. I think they have proven that if they feel it will get them closer to a championship, they will get rid of just about anyone right now.

This trade is way unfair and stupid for minni. We get no GOOD young players, and joe johnson isn't a superstar.

Quoting TheFreshPrince:

This trade is way unfair and stupid for minni. Per game: PPG: 20.2 Assists: 6.5 3P%: .356 Steals: 1.26
if joe johnson wasn't playing for the hawks his numbers would not be so good and plus if minni trades KG they want to get young not a selfish lineup with JJ Ricky and Blount. that would suck and Josh childress isn' even very good. All i was saying is that we dont get younger in a good way with childress and JJ cant even hold a candle to KG
