trade scenarios, add & pimp your own

I'm waaaay too lazy to actually match up the actual numbers but I usually have a good idea of the salary numbers in my head because I spend THAT much time thinking about the warriors. Just follow the logic. Anyway...

    1. Jermaine for
    JRich, Ike, Fisher, 9th pick

    or Baron/Murph/9th pick/Pietrus

Indy gets a some nice pieces and we get our low post stud. Thing is that Walsh and Bird are the stingiest GM's in the league. Without a doubt they would take their sweet time.

    2. KG-Same deals could be drawn to KG but I just don't see it being enough on their end. KG is a top 5 player, brings in the cash and they could just hold on to him and hope one of their picks or young guys get good fast. I don't see that happening and KG will demand a trade but at that point we're going to have a solution to our PF woes so it'll be a moot point. Also Minnie is going to want to send him East so in order for us to get KG we would need to pay a premium. Has KG ever done it all alone? No. As good as he is, it might not be worth it to package both Baron & JRich which is what I think they'd ask for.

    3. JRich for Tyson Chandler/Ben Gordon or

    Murph for Tyson Chandler

First option would give an upgrade over Foyle. I'm not going to foam by the mouth over Chandler but he can defend, block some shots and dunk. Pretty much everything Foyle is too fat to do. Chicago gets their go to guy and we get a David Wesley type 2 guard to team with Baron. Thing is we'd have to extend air Gordon. Murph for Chandler should work but Chicago would be pretty thin at center and would probably ask for Biedrins.

    4. Murphy/1st for Magloire-Magloire is a center and can get a double double. Milwaukee isn't going to want to extend him with Bogut but Magloire is apparently going to ask for the max. If we had to, I would give it to him but we have all this money allocated in Fish, Baron, JRich and Foyle. We need some space to keep Biedrins and Montay.

    5. K-Mart for Foyle/Pietrus/conditional future pick-
Voorhees knows about this proposal but this is something that is acually tangible. K-Mart has been suspended, his team sucks with him starting, his owed a very large amount of cash, hates George Karl and Denver is looking to clean house and give Melo the max. Now how many takers do you guys see on Kenyon?

New York, Dallas.....who else? Really.....nobody. He's a very good player but he is clearly overpaid. This guy is at an all time low and Denver at this point is looking to dump him for anything. Foyle is complete garbage but his contract is half as long, and half the amount of dollars due to Kenyon. Throw in a 2 way guard for Denver to play with and I think they do this. Dallas won't want to mess up their chemistry, New York isn't desperate like us for a big man....that leaves Golden State.

That gives Mully some time to see what kind of center he can get for Murph & Fish and you have a complete basketball team. Use the 9th pick to draft a PG.

Out of all the scenarios I like KG the best because he's simply the best player. Then Jermaine, then Chandler, then Kenyon, then Magloire. Which one do I think WILL happen? Kenyon Martin. The guy is an excellent defender, great transition game, will actually intimidate guys driving in and plays hard regardless. I think the guy is a bit of a loudmouth and a jerk but he has a history of getting to the finals. Just win.

I only like the Magloire and K-Mart trade. JRich wants someone like KMart. Reason why I don't like the other trades is cause we'd give up JRich.

Yeah I like that and the Murph for Chandler one. I don't even like Chandler and I would still throw in a pick with Murphy to get him. The K-Mart trade is good as long as we also have a taker for Murphy lined up already but we may also see a problem if Ike outproduces K-Mart (pretty realistic), then how are going to move K-Mart and his MAX deal?

As for the KG/JO trades, I think we'd be better off just trying to ship off Foyle and Murphy and trying to obtain a good center. IMO we're better off in a year or two with a lineup of Baron, J-Rich, Dunleavy(?), Ike, and Biedrins or a good starting center than Baron, Pietrus (?), Dunleavy, JO, Foyle. Ike will never be as good as either of KG or JO but he could get 15/8 right now as a starter with Baron and J-Rich and he'll improve. I just think we'd have a more complete lineup and a more flexible roster if we just tried to dump Murphy and Foyle for shorter term deals so that we can get a legit center who'll defend and rebound (Mohammed, Haywood, etc.) or if Biedrins is the guy then so be it, just drop Foyle and Murphy.

    I agree RunBJM,

Ike has already shown us that he's a 15/8 (high FG%) guy, which is comparable to Murphy's "stats" (except for FG) but his defense is better than Murphy's, not a whole lot better but he at least tries to block shots and he plays down low which we desperately need. If we ship Murphy to the Bucks we get a double double guy in Magloire. Warriors don't need a drastic change, and I wouldn't want a drastic change either (unless it means we get to get rid of Foyle, Murphy, Fisher, Dunleavy) as we would lose young prospects. The Bucks trade would be the most "ideal" I feel.

    PG: Baron/Ellis/Fisher
    SG: JRich/Ellis/Pietrus
    SF: Dunleavy(sigh)/Pietrus
    PF: Diogu/Biedrins/Zarko
    C: Magloire/Foyle(sigh)/Biedrins/Zarko/Taft

Just by doing that one trade we'd only have one real weak spot, the SF. Lets just hope Dunleavy performs up to at least half his contract. Anyway, I'd be happy with that line up.

Definitely, I'd much rather take ike with slightly worse stats than Murphy with his 15/10 because Ike is so damn effiecient. He'll get 16 points on 4-7 shooting with plenty of FTs and "and 1" plays plus hes extremely active on the offensive boards. He gets in foul trouble more then Murphy because he actually tries to make a difference on defense and the only other knock on him is that his defensive rebounding is poor (though it noticeably improved throughout the season) but a center who can suck in defensive rebounds should cover that up.

A defensive minded center would actually be a better fit along side Ike because of his ovious defense and defensive rebounding problems. Magloire and Ike are capable of similar scoring numbers and both seem to have relatively high turnover rates for post players (though Ike also improved that throughout the season). Not that I wouldn't want Magloire though, a big 6'11, 260, experienced post player is definitely valuable to us but I'd like to maybe S&T a guy like Nazr Mohammed as much or more because hes a good garbage man at center.

I wouldn't want to trade JRich either. Just think he's gonna blow up huge next season -- better free throws, better defense, better handle... well 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Not as easy to improve ball handling.

What about going for Nene in the KMart deal? KMart would be a good fit on the Warriors if his knee passes the physical, but Nene would be the C/PF that could help us a lot. He can play center with Ike or KMart and if AB really improves next season, then he can play PF with Ike. I heard Nene was in really great shape for someone who had a serious injury.

It really depends if Mullin would negotiate with Nene's agent. The closing price would have to be out of range for the Nuggets to match. Don't think the Nuggets deal both their PF's and I don't think Golden State takes on both their contracts.

Nene would be a nice addition but I get the feeling the Nuggets match all offers or Toronto outbids everyone to get Bosh a center.

Jason Richardson, Troy Murphy, Zarko Caparkapa, this year's first round pick, and next year's Philly pick or the Golden State's first round pick next year; for Kevin Garnett, one of this year's second round picks(36 or 37).

    Baron Davis/Ellis
    Mickael Pietrus/Fisher
    Mike Dunleavy/Ebi(?)
    Kevin Garnett/Ike
    Andris Biedrins/Foyle/Taft

I want Kevin Garnett and his 20, 10, and 5 and his strong defense. That front court would be very strong with KG doing his thing, then Ike doing his work in the post being strong and picking up tons of FT's, and then Andris, Foyle, and Taft adding good defense. Ebi is a risk as a personality/head case(I don't really like that term, but I guess it fits). But Ebi is young, athletic, blocks shots, rebounds, and he has tools to work with. This is a roster that is balanced, which is something I believe many were high about creating. With this roster the Warriors have the two toughest aspects to capture, those being a talented PG and a tough front court, that balanced with some young stud guards in Pietrus and Ellis who have both been highly praised for their superb defense and high potential offense. In many ways I see that lineup being something similar to a Spurs lineup with the dominant PF in KG, a good PG in Baron, and strong defenders on the perimeter along with some strong shooters, to go with another tall athletic defender to help create a twin-tower strong defensive duo. Add a strong coach to ensure the leadership and create some good game plans, possibly like a Mario Ellie can with his experience, and then I think this team is one to create havoc in the league.

Yeah, I suppose this is my "pimped" out trade [IMG]

Don't forget that Magloire has played with Baron and they've done well together, so I think the chemistry would be there. Nazr would be nice too. Honestly, anyone other than Foyle would be a huge difference. Having a backcourt of Baron/JRich and a frontcourt of Ike/Magloire would be awesome, and we wouldn't have to give an arm and leg to get it.

Exactly my point. I like our depth right now and if we strip our team plus give up draft picks to land a dominant big man then why would we be any better than the team who just gave them up? And imrpovement at center would do wonders as well as moving Murphy and letting Ike play more.

I'm pretty much down with the suggestion Wtwalker77 brought up on another thread. It's the one where we trade Baron Davis/Murphy for Kevin Garnett and keep Ellis/Fisher. If Ellis can jump in and be similar to Tony Parker on the learning curve, I'm all for it.

The more seasons Baron has where his back or his ankle or his knee or his achilles tendom is acting up, the less value he has. He's just not a healthy guy, but he's got youth on his side. Plus, trading Murphy sweetens the deal and opens up more playing time for Ike/Garnett. We know Garnett is not a small forward or center, but I'd like to play Garnett wherever the mismatch benefits him and somehow get Ike involved. With Garnett his biggest strength is he can play any position and make his teammates better. He's a good defender with a classic nba body that can handle the ball, pass it, rebound it, and he can shoot (just no three pointer consistency). And most importantly, he's solid from the line (after 6 years, went from 70% to 80%, so there is hope for Jrich still).

But, if we deal Richardson, I'd want Marko Jaric. Jaric is a funny looking guy, but he has no problems shooting at the line, he can defend, he can pass, he's very quick handling the ball, he can leap. I don't think he's a point guard though. The dude is a shooting guard all the way, so I hope he's the prototype two if we're going after him as well. The only problem is he's not a star like Jrich will be.

Davis and Murphy for KG sounds fine to me, but think Minny would want a pick and someone else like AB. If they'd take MP, then it would be doable. I doubt they'd trade KG for cheap since he does put butts in the seats and is still a top 5 player.

If we can get KG, then we need to make sure we still got the pieces to make a run for the playoffs. This lineup doesn't sound attractive to me although it may make the POs:
    PG - Fisher, Monta, Bynum
    SG - JRich, Monta, MP
    SF - KG, Dunleavy, MP
    PF - Ike, Dunleavy, KG
    C - FOYLE, Taft

Any trade that doesnt get fisher off our roster is not worth mentioning. He is the cancer that killed our season. Too bad we can't still Allan Houston his ass.

I don't like Fisher as a point guard, but I attribute our poor season to lack of inside presence and not playing enough defense. Plus, in our present state without Baron controlling the break + accurate outside shooting, we're nothing. If we don't have high % shooters from downtown, we can't drive inside because defenses will pack it in and dare us to shoot. But if we had a stud post scorer that knows how to set up outside shooters, defenses will collase in the middle just like in dribble penetration. It's just another way to create on isolations rather than rely on ballhandlers at PF or guard play to create something. Plus, this whole movement off the ball thing can work. I think we can become a good executing team with practice, but we should get rid of those damned slow-footed guys on our team that can't shoot, the guys too dumb to remember plays, and also the guys that don't know how to box out or set a good pick. The last time I saw a good pick this season was when Dunleavy floored Devin Harris. Haven't see anything like it since... It's just not the lack of physical play, it's the fact Murphy/Foyle have such weak timing when it comes to things, including floor recognition and getting the hell out of the way of the ballhandler (floor spacing). If Jrich or the point guards were a bad teammate they'd be calling out those guys because they can be disruptive to any play inside the lane. Plus those guys could complain that nobody in the league is afraid to take it strong to the hoop with Foyle being as slow footed as he is and Murphy not willing to block shots or take fouls to save a layup. All a smart coach would have to do is get Foyle to rotate out on a midrange guy and he can't recover, Dunleavy/Baron/Jrich clobber a guy to save a layup, while Murphy stands around waiting for help.

But... I shouldn't complain. Mullin went out and got Ike and I think he's offering a lot of the things that we don't have. Blocked shots, big man physical style of play, inside scoring, willingness to throw it down and throw his body around.

Nene's agent is Dan Fegan. Not like Mullin hasn't dealt with him before.

IMO, in some ways what's keeping GS out of the playoffs isn't what they don't have, but what they do have.

Having Derek Fisher signed long term, and having Montgomery (apparently) feeling like he has to give Fisher big time minutes, this is a negative thing, IMHO.

Fisher is fools' gold. He's a terrible decision maker, runs a horrible fast break, inexplicably pounds the dribble (I mean I like when Boom-Dizzle pounds it because he can create; Fish just kills the clock), seldom feeds the hot hand, and takes off-balance jumpers without trying to move the ball first.

Fisher is terrible for offensive chemistry. Let's not talk about his defense.

IMO, the most important move the Warriors could make this off-season is try to find someone uninformed enough to actually take D-Fish off our hands. It would:

    - Free up significant $$$

    - Free up PT for Monta Ellis

    - Free up the flow of the offense

If the Warriors want to build as an up-tempo team, they must have up-tempo guards. Baron? Perfect. Monta? Perfect. Fish? Uggh.

We need to package something enticing, like Diogu or a pick , with Fisher.

Perhaps a Fisher, Murphy, and pick deal for a good center.

Fisher isn't ouir biggest problem IMO. Its most definitely starting center and Foyle is the guy that needs to be packaged with picks/players to be moved. There are teams such as the Cavs, Rockets, or Heat that would willingly take Fisher without making us give Diogu or a pick to get rid of him. I think the Cavs would gladly trade Fisher for Snow, throwing in one of our 2007 seconds would get the job done. We could probably work out a deal to send Fish to Houston and get back Alston with some fillers because Alston just isn't a good fit in Houston and I don't think they really like him there.

I agree that the most important piece to acquire is a defensive-minded center. Foyle is horrible. But IMO getting rid of Fish is even more important than getting a good center. I wouldn't mind getting Alston if he has a small enough contract... hmmm, I just checked, it looks like it's slightly less than Fisher, but he's still signed through 2010. That's too long. What about Snow... ouch, he's making 7.3 mil in 2009, that's too much.

I gotta find an expiring contract to trade for Fish.

We don't have the leverage in a trade where we're trading Fisher. Take the upgrade with smaller contract, I'd prefer Alston who makes 2 mil per year less than Fisher but with the same length. Plus hes a pure point guard who can handle the ball and run the break as well as penetrate though hes not a good defender, neither is Fish though. Snow's has 3 years left at around the same money as Fisher (about 6.5 mil a year for the remainder of the contract) but a year less on the contract. Snow is a good defender, court general, lockerroom presence, and pure PG who'll distribute above all and not shoot much. There really aren't many options as to where we can deal Fisher and get something of value back let alone an expiring contract.

We need to package him with something that other GMs actually do want.

If Murphy is a commodity this summer, I hope Mully shops the Murphy/Fisher/pick package as hard as he can.
