NY Post - With the Kenyon Martin-era in Denver all but over, the Knicks will surely make another run at the power forward but Larry Brown has also asked Isiah Thomas to court Miami's free-agent center Alonzo Mourning. In a game versus New York in November, Mourning recorded 9 blocked shots. Do you think it's going to be a right thing to do?
Depends on how much money Zo is going to ask for. He would be a good mentor for Jackie Butler and Channing Frye.
Theres no way in hell Zo would go to the Knicks.. He's only in the league so that he can get his ring, so he wouldn't even think about going to the team with the worst record. If he doesn't win the championship this year with Miami he's most likely going to retire. But if he doesn't retire I still see him on the Heat, he loves it here.
^Agreed, no way in hell he leaves Miami. Alonzo Mourning had one of the most intesne NBA rivalries with the Knicks and he would be hated all over his real home of Miami for signing with them. Odds are he retires, and he has stated he wants a ring and the Knicks by no means at all are contenders.
It's already been said, the chances of Alonzo Mourning signing with the Knicks is somewhere between ridiculously slim and fat chance. But it has little to do the rivalry he had with the Knicks and most certainly has nothing to do with Mourning loving Miami. He left that city once before and there is no doubt in my mind that he'd do it again if it meant getting a ring. Unless something incredible happens over the summer, like Isiah pulling off the impossible and getting Jermaine O'neal, Isiah shouldnt even bother calling Mourning's agent. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
why would he refuse to report for the Raptors because they were rebuilding/not winning and then turn around and sign a contract with a team even worse than the Raptors?? Chances are its not going to happen. That said i think New York could be a front runner for Zach Randolph/Darius Miles package. Portland is rebuilding and would love to ease their financial disaster! Jalen, Taylor and Frye for Z Bo and Miles might work.....Knicks might have to grease them a bit more though.
would really rock for the Knicks in my opinion....having a frontline of Curry and ZBo isnt bad at all. 5-Curry 4-Zach Randolph 3-Q Rich 2-Crawford 1-Marbury key reserves: 6-Miles 7-Francis a pg better than francis and marbury would be ideal...but its hard to move one overpaid underproductive poing guard, let alone 2. If marbury can do what brown asks and brown can do a better job on his end i dont see why this team cant do some damage.....but they'd have to gel
That frontcourt would be so ridiculously overpaid, lazy, and selfish. Frye, though one-dimensional at this point in his career, is more preferrable than Randolph or Miles.

Randolph is immensely more talented then Frye is, and probably ever will be. However i think they'd need a guard like Brevin Knight to make that **** work. They'd have to have a real quality point gaurd who lives and dies to set others up. Marbury and Francis wouldnt be able to make it work in my opinion. Curry Randolph qrich crawford and knight would be a quality lineup as far as talent goes....if they could pull their act together they'd be playoffs bound in my opinion.

Randolph and Curry...on the same team...starting together? That would easily be the worst defensive frontcourt in the entire NBA. Not to mention the most selfish. Both of them are known as blackholes and having two big men who dont play a lick of defense and refuses to pass the ball starting together is a recipe for disaster. Your projected team would suffer from the same defensive woes and dumb basketball that the team endured this entire season. And as maligned as Marbury and Francis are they still have good value. So it wouldnt be too difficult to move them for players Larry Brown likes. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
^ ya i know they'd be hard to work with, due to attitudes and their desire to score first sencond and then pass 3rd....but Isiah doenst seem to mind those players. Also Brown wanted francis, Jalen Rose and Miles so apparently he suddenly doenst mind either. Randolph, unlike Curry, is at least a capable rebounder, add that to his nice offensive game and the Knicks would have on of the best scoring and biggest frontlines in the NBA. They'd sure clog the lane up, even though they're not good defenders, having 2 players that size limits room for opposing players. Meh, last thing i think the Knicks need is another headcase with poor defense and no desire to pass the ball....but if the Knicks are dead set on aquiring "talent", Miles and Randolph have that in abundance. If i was the GM, ya i wouldnt do it, but i'm not...Isiah is....so expect it to be done About Marbury and Francis, i'm not sure i agree with them having "good value". They're very expensive, known to be team cancers and they've done nothing but help teams loose. Francis you might be able to get back a solid role player with a bad contract, but Marbury i'd doubt you'd get anything back other than very bad contract players that are either over the hill or equal sized problem makers. but thats just my opinion.
Every move and rumor is just so against what this organization WAS about...now its just becoming a disgrace. NYC, the mecca of basketball, now a total joke of the NBA and Isiah's real life NBA live team.
Miami wont let Mourning get away even though the Knicks have all the money in the world. Miami will stick with him.
