<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Providing the kind of helping hand that only a 6-foot-10 forward can provide, 76ers player Chris Webber made a celebrity guest appearance on the set of ABC?s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Monday, March 27, 2006, as the show constructed a new home for the Py Family of Philadelphia. The back-to-back episodes are set to air this Sunday, April 30 at 7 p.m.

Webber brought with him five sets of season tickets for the 2006-07 season courtesy of the 76ers; Sixers gear for all the children; a team-autographed backboard to hang in one of the bedrooms; autographed, authentic Sixers Webber and Allen Iverson jerseys; and a pair of Webber?s own sneakers for the bedroom.

With his long reach, Webber helped designer Paul DiMeo sand a few ?high? spots on one of the pieces of furniture being built for the house while filming a message for the family. After the shoot and tour of the house, which included taping additional segments in the interior, Webber went across the street to shake hands with a large crowd of people who had gathered to watch the construction efforts.

The 76ers also played host to members of the show during the week-long taping and construction efforts including, show designers DiMeo (carpentry/attitude), Ty Pennington (carpentry/attitude), Paige Hemmis (carpentry/nut & bolts) and Preston Sharp (exteriors/big ideas) who enjoyed the 76ers games on March 22 versus Atlanta and March 24 versus Orlando.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is President of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman and premiered December 3, 2003, on the ABC Television Network. I saw this a while ago. Webber is not a bad guy, contrary to popular opinion, he gives back to the community, and is a guy of good character. He just seems to get a bad reputation, and be an easy target for the media. It’s a great thing Webber did the kid he was helping out was a big 76ers fans so you can imagine how excited he must have been. Not only does he get a new house, but has one of the 76ers stars building his room. Hat’s off to Webber!

I think I saw a commercial on this before on TV. It's really nice of Webber to do so.

Very gracious move on Webber's part, and I commend him for that.

Now if only he could have provided a few more assists on the basketball court as well...
