Tracy Mcgrady scoring 13 points in 35 seconds to will the Rockets to victory over the Spurs or Kobe Bryant scoring 81 points in a victory over the Raptors?
they're both amazing but 13 in 35 I think is more impressive that's only 11 seconds more than a 1-possession.....plus it was against a good team. NBA should start tracking the "Most points in a 60-second timeframe" i would like to see guys compete for that stat.
I'd prefer to have T-Mac's performance, since it happened in the playoffs. Everything is more impressive, when it happens during the intensity of the playoffs. Even though the game was eventually a blowout and the Raps didn't even try defensively, Kobe's performance was still amazing.

If you think it's a stupid question then don't bother replying in the first place, simply ignore the thread. 13 in 35 is not as incomprable as you're making it seem. Granted, it didn't set the media world on fire, it didn't give Tracy new nicknames and it definetly didn't create him an excuse to win the MVP but regardless of all that, if you watch that game, you can see the sheer unbelieveabilty of the situation. And let's not forget that this was against the Spurs. If Tracy Mcgrady's situation wasn't good enough to compare to then, which situations is the 81 game comparable to? Is it greater then Magic's performance in Game 1 of the NBA finals? Is it greater then Jordan's final game performance? From a historical perspective, and not just focusing on scoring but in the general context of the NBA's greatest performances, where does it rank? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I'd prefer to have T-Mac's performance, since it happened in the playoffs. It t-mac had done that in the playoffs it would have ranked up there with jordan's shot over ehlo or any other great play in NBA history.
You can't really say one is better than the other. Let's just say it's unlikely T-Mac will score 81, and it's unlikely that Kobe will score 13 in 35.
Kobes just because he probably did that in the 81 point game but no one noticed. He was just draining everything x.x

Both feats are amazing, but I'm gonna have to say T-Mac's 13 in 35. I believe if T-Mac, Vinsanity, or D-wade played for the Lakers they could score 81, but 13 points in 35 seconds is just a bit tougher.
13 in 35 against the league's best defense in the Spurs easily trumps 81 in a fairly meaningless game against the worst team in the league (at the time) and one of the worst defenses. Especially considering Mitchell refused to double him.

Vince was on a bad Raptors team where he could get all the points he wants and he never did it. McGrady was on a terrible Magic team where he could have got all the points he wanted, and he never did it. And Wade can't hit the 3 on a regular enough basis to do it. I'm going with the 81.
The Lakers depend on Kobe to score 30 to 40 to win. Those other teams like VC's Raptors, T-Mac's Magic, and Wade with the "very good" Heat didn't have just one scorer.
You have to realize that scoring 13 points in 35 seconds, as amazing as it is, has ALOT to do with luck as it has to do with skill. First you have to get hot... then you have to be in a position to get the ball back quickly in multiple possessions... then you actually have to be able to get the ball and then jack up a shot. 81 points over an entire game is just incredible. Is luck involved? yes... but the longer you have to keep up the incredible the less and less it becomes a matter of luck. Look at it this way... is it absolutely impossible for an average perimeter player in the NBA to score 13 points in 35 seconds if he is on fire?! No. But even an on fire great player in the NBA may not be able to score 81 points because of the sheer physicality of it. Many people don't realize what it takes to take over 45 shots in an NBA game under duress, while also playing defense at the other end. There is absolutely no luck in that... you can't be autistic and throw up 45 shots in a game, much less make 60% of them.

He had a game in his final Orlando season where he scored 40 points in the first half, but injured his finger and didnt return for the second. So he is probally capable of it. He just needs the right situation like how Kobe got.
