They said he can't win without Shaq, can't score without Shaq, he isn't a team player, he isn't coachable, he's a ballhog, he doesn't make teammates better, wait and see if the Lakers even make the playoffs, etc...........All he's done is have one of the most incredible seasons ever, push his team to the playoffs, and might be on the verge of completing one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history (not to mention that incredible game winner he hit last nite). We all knew he was already great (despite what Kobe hataz say), but did Kobe solidify himself as one of the greatest, if not "THE" greatest this season including the playoffs?

What do you mean by "one of the greatest"?

Top 10? No. Top 20? Probably.

authentiq is a known kobe hater so dont listen to him. Id say Kobe proved his greatness this season and especialy during the playoffs even though they are not over. Hes done what very few all-stars have ever done.

whaa?? that's the first time i've ever heard someone say that about me. And why am I Kobe hater? just because i don't think he's one the top 10 greatest players of all time? maybe by the time he retires. Everytime someone disagrees about a high degree of praise for Kobe, they are quickly labeled as haters, playa please. He may not be my favorite player, but i'm certainly not a Kobe-hater. Check yourself..

May not have been in the same magnititude as Kobe's but great nonetheless. Please, before his "greatness" is solidified, he actually has to win this series, slow your roll, your getting way too ahead of yourself, maybe you should analyze just how great Kobe's season/ playoffs have been on the offseason. Anyways, I give props to Kobe, but not to overzealous Laker fans who are quick to call others haters just cause they don't agree..

Is there an official ranking of the Top 50 or 60 players? Usually I just see them listed in alphabetical order, so I was curious if you knew if an official list existed.

authentiq is not a hater. He keeps it real with his opinions on Kobe.

What Kobe did last night was amazing, he's had some historic moments this season and when people talk about the 2005-06, ten years from now, Kobe will be the center of discussion.

Right now you can't compare him to the other greats because he has long career left and a lot more to accomplish. If the Lakers beat the Suns in Round 1, it has to be one of the greatest upsets of all time. I think only 4 teams have ever advanced as the 7th seed past Round 1. Most people didn't give the Lakers a chance to win more than 1 game in this series. Now the Lakers are just 1 win away from a potential Hallway Series with the Clippers.

If the Lakers beat the Suns, it'd be an upset, yes, but not a huge one. Their tallest player is like 6'8" right now in Diaw, and both KT and Grant are injured.

Why do people just jump into conclusions after a game winner or crucial win?

Kobe has always been labeled as great, one of the best ever even. He was just believed to have fallen without Shaq. And he did, last year. But this year he's back and up again, and I'm loving it.

Who said he was gonna resemble Penny's career again 2 years ago without Shaq's presence?

It's funny, seems like the whole situation has turned upside down and all "karma"-like. The Heat, who were supposed to be miles above what the Kobe-era Lakers were ever supposed to be are struggling with THEMSELVES and struggling to beat a 7th seeded team with Shaq having multiple bad games while Kobe Bryant and his young Lakers are doing everything needed to win against a 2nd seeded powerhouse that they were supposed to not even win 1, let alone 3 games against.

    I love it.

I wonder the same thing. I remember just a few days ago some guy was calling Vince and choker and saying Manu is better than him. Fastforward, and Manu has 7 turnovers and a crucuial one to lose a game. Vince takes over and carriers the Nets to a victory with Krstic, and Manu is a non factor in game 4.

When people say "can't win", they're don't mean literally "can't win". It's normally reffering to winning at a larger stage. Also I've never heard anyone say Kobe can't score without Shaq, what?

Like others said, your ranking as a great does not change after a few games in the NBA first round.

Either have I. I remember seeing a quote where Salley said that Kobe would average 45ppg without Shaq. [IMG] People expected Kobe's fg% to go down without Shaq, but he shot very well this year.

There are actually a couple guys on that list that I would put Kobe ahead of.

Why is it that in the season he shot way more and in the playoffs he shoots less and passes more? He can't of just noticed that they've won a couple of games by him passing more and somehow not leading the team in shots.

Well earlier in the season Kwame and Odom were not playing as well. They started playing well in the last 2 months. Also they wouldn't have the same interior mismatch they do against the Suns in the games during the season.

do you seriously believe Kobe has accomplished more than Bird, Shaq & Malone?? That's got to be a joke. In that list, he may be the most talented and gifted player, but he isn't even close to accomplishing things Bird has done.
