<div class="quote_poster">Quoting authentiq:</div><div class="quote_post">do you seriously believe Kobe has accomplished more than Bird, Shaq & Malone?? That's got to be a joke. In that list, he may be the most talented and gifted player, but he isn't even close to accomplishing things Bird has done.</div>
ummmm.......malone? yes. bird? no. shaq? no. anyways, i missunderstood the topic. i thought it was if he was the "greatest" in talent wise. either way, he has accomplished a lot more than malone in his 10 seasons

I think what Kobe has done has been a great lesson for all sports fan critics to follow. Basically he has shut everyone up and proven to all exactly what he can do. All those people that said he can't win without Shaq, can't score without Shaq, he isn't a team player, he isn't coachable, he's a ballhog, he doesn't make teammates better have all been silenced. These wrong do'ers must now hang their heads in shame for doubting the abilites of one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He has laughed in thier faces, and I hope they remember it.

Yes Kobe has answered this season. Right now I'd put him in the Top 20 all time.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">When people say "can't win", they're don't mean literally "can't win". It's normally reffering to winning at a larger stage. Also I've never heard anyone say Kobe can't score without Shaq, what?

Like others said, your ranking as a great does not change after a few games in the NBA first round.</div>
Okay....first off, i've said Kobe was great. the best player in the league, 3 rings etc.....he's alwayz been great to me. when i say soldify himself, i mean among others who question him. jus the fact that he's in the playoffs should be great, giving the fact that the majority of ya'll didn't even think he'd lead his team to it. It went from "lets see him make the playoffs" to "wait and see if he gets outta the first round".

The constant debate over Kobe's standing in the annals of NBA history has got to be one of the most pointless things fans can argue about. Since Kobe is and seems to relish (or at least his commercials do) his anti-hero image, he's got his haters, and he's got his hard core fans. There aren't too many unbiased people out there when it comes to Kobe.

Also consider that he's in the middle of his career. Who knows where he'll end up standing when all is said and done. There's really no way you can say that right this minute his legacy is greater than so and so or not as great as whoever; what if he destroys his knee next week, or if the Lakers trade for KG in the off season and he wins five more rings, it's simply too soon to classify his all-time standing.

Just enjoy his greatness now, instead of worrying about others' opinions of him or how he'll be perceived 50 years from now. If there's anything I've learned as a Packers and Brett Favre fan, it's that 99% of the discussion about him is a bunch of useless crap, and that it's better just to enjoy him while he's here than get all riled up about what people think of him or what the history books will say.

With out any question Kobe has definately solidified his greatness this season. Kobe has always been a great player. But remember untell this season, really both Kobe and Tracy McGrady were the comparision as far as the dominant play of shooting guards. While I always felt Kobe was better than Tracy anyway, for defensive purposes, not to take anything away from Tracy, but Kobe this particular year proved he belongs as the comparision by himself. I think that if the Lakers did end at the 6th seed, instead of Kobe not getting MVP this year, I think he would have been the first to ever get the MVP with All voters in his favor. Which I beleive is a bad rule anyway I beleive any playoff seeding team should be eligable as haveing an MVP. Instead the League insists, a player has to be on atleast a 6th seeded team, or better. Because Kobe and Steve Nash. Come on, Kobe is so much better there isn't even a comparision.

Untell this season I thought that people saying Kobe might pass MJ, was stupid. But being a Bulls fan, I'll be the first to say, after this season Kobe is infact in the process right now of passing MJ. I have NBA League Pass, and I've never seen a players break out year, be this good. So yes Kobe has with out any question solidified his greatness this season.[IMG]

I think this is getting ridiculous, every single time Kobe does somthing regardless of what it is, people are straight on here to claim how that thing makes him the greatest player in the history of the universe.

Kobe is a great player, but he is not a god, stop treating him like one.

i do agree that people are overzealous everytime Kobe does something great, but no one here treats him like God or the greatest player, who's said that?

    look it's real simple

Reasons why so many people love Kobe:
He shows you what you can achieve with confidence and believing in yourself making the impossible possible.
He's got sick athletic skills. still.

Reasons why so many people hate Kobe:
    He's an egomaniac.
He comes off as insincere, like we never see the "real" Kobe. With other players what you see is what you get. With Kobe everything is a carefully thought out persona that he chooses to give you.

sometimes, what he says sounds so PR & Politically Correct, it pisses you off.. but i think at some points he does let the real Kobe come out.

Whatever you say, I thought they'd make the playoffs in the bottom last year, just like this year. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be super impressed at the fact that they were the 7th seed.

I'm also not sure who "y'all" are.

Kobe just solidified it by making Raja Bell look like a fool on national TV.
"I don't know this kid, I don't wanna know this kid."

    That was great!

greatest of all time? People have only stated he is already one of the greats but NEVER (atleast not to my knowledge) the greatest. If so, show me, i'm sure you can find atleast 3 out of those "1,000,000" kobe topics).

Yes, Rock, you're basketball knowledge must be low or you just don't pay attention to the greats.

I agree, Kobe is a great player. And nothing can change that, he has proven to us that he can do it without
Shaq. But that still doesn't make him top 10, yet.

One thing about watching a great player or a great team is that you don't know where they rank until the end of their careers. You think people were watching MJ, when he was Kobe's age and thinking where he ranked all time? The hype that people generate these days, at least IMO, lessens the impact of their performance. I love watching Kobe play, but it gets annoying when people constantly try to rank him, or judge him, or label him. Just sit back and enjoy the show. You can worry about his place in history, when he's finished his work.
