im just wondering when people rank players. if they rank overall or by certain perks. i would say kobe goes in top 10 for individual game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dan50:</div><div class="quote_post">tonight is kobes biggest game i would say since he's without shaq. Game 7 in Phoenix , kobe now needs to show he is MVP.</div> I think he showed exactly why he had no chance at MVP this season.
only a handful of players have the ability to score 35 pts a game and still be a positive influence on his team like kobe can.. lets face it, outside of odom the lakers don't really have anybody else to help kobe on a consistent basis, and he still carried the team to a 7th seed. thats pretty damn good.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting unbeliever:</div><div class="quote_post">I think he showed exactly why he had no chance at MVP this season.</div> Come on, he was definitely an MVP candidate. I think Nash showed why HE is a candidate last night, but I don't think Kobe hurt his reputation. His team REALLY overachieved. When your team's success rests of Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown stepping up - two guys not really known for "stepping up" all that often - to take Phoenix to 7 games is amazing. Kobe's legend will live on. The only difference is Nash has got a bit of a legend thing going right now too. He proved to be every bit as "mentally tough" as Kobe or anyone else in the league. He was under enough pressure entering the series - when talk got round that he would be MVP, that had to only increase the pressure on him - now you had angry LA fans chanting MVP for Kobe like crazy. The guy remained stoic - even after last night's win, he was even keel. They're both legitimate MVP candidates this season and you could make a good case for either so let's leave it at that.
jobe would never have won anything.. not even a playoffs series w/o shaq daddy... so he's practically the most over-rated player in this era... w/o jordan, pippen still took the bulls to the conference finals..
But did Kobe solidify himself as one of the greatest, if not "THE" greatest this season including the playoffs?

HAHAHA
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AIRTIGHT:</div><div class="quote_post">-- Written 5,1,06' Lakers up 3-1 on Suns ....... HAHAHA</div> I said it before and I'll say it again. Win/losses are extremely overrated when evaluating a player. And people also tend to overstate the importance of single game performances. If Tim Thomas doesn't hit that three pointer to send the game into overtime, is Kobe all of a sudden a better player? Or, if Toronto wasn't playing in a daze on that fateful night in January and Kobe doesn't go for 81 (let's say he goes for 45 instead), how much should that diminish his greatness as a player? I don't think either should make much of a difference in our overall evaluation of him. The body of work both Tim Duncan and Karl Malone have put together over the course of their careers speak for themselves. They are all-time greats. Kobe, right now, is close to that class, but not quite there. He's got a number of years to change that, however.
but he's already better than Bird right? Winning and losing extremly ovverated?? just as long as everybody has fun In all seriousness now, you saying you agree with that quoted post- that this year solidifes Kobe Bryant as the greatest ever?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AIRTIGHT:</div><div class="quote_post">but he's already better than Bird right? Winning and losing extremly ovverated?? just as long as everybody has fun</div> That's not what I said ... People overstate the importance of wins and losses in deciding a player's greatness, particularly in the playoffs. Now that I reread my post, perhaps it didn't really have much to do with what you're saying. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In all seriousness now, you saying you agree with that quoted post- that this year solidifes Kobe Bryant as the greatest ever?</div> No. I think Kobe, right now, is somewhere in the 18-25 range as far as greatest players ever, and by the time his career is over he might very well sneak into the top 10.
