<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBA conspiracy theorists are loudly crying foul. And time out. Steve Nash got hacked and Boris Diaw asked for a timeout in Sunday's Game 4, they insist, before referee Bennett Salvatore called for a jump ball between Nash and LA's Luke Walton in the final moments of overtime. Plus, they're all worked up over a grainy, Abraham Zapruder-like photo taken from ABC-TV's broadcast of the game that surfaced Monday and suggests Walton's left foot was out of bounds when he grabbed the ball while it was in Nash's grasp. "This series is fixed, just like the outcome of a WWE SmackDown," one irate Republic reader wrote columnist Dan Bickley. There were plenty of other similar e-mails and phone messages. Walton, of course, won the ensuing jump ball, and Kobe Bryant buried the winning jumper just before time expired to give LA a 99-98 victory and a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The conspiracy theorists, mostly angry Suns fans, say Nash, the soon-to-be announced two-time MVP, didn't get either call because the always-scheming NBA wants Bryant and Phil Jackson and the Lakers to advance to the next round. That would pit them against the Clippers, with whom they share the Staples Center in one of the bigger markets in the league. The Suns aren't buying it, at least publicly. "Everyone knows that the Lakers (vs.) Clippers would be great, but I don't really believe in a conspiracy," Nash said Monday. "If we had made one more shot, we wouldn't be talking about this." True, but Nash said he definitely felt "some contact" before the jump ball was called, and that he heard Diaw call for a timeout at least twice. And in English, not Diaw's native French. "It was frustrating that Boris was standing right next to Bennett Salvatore and called a timeout and never got one," Nash said. "But we can't blame it on the referees. We had our opportunities. It just wasn't meant to be. So many things went against us in succession. It was just crazy." That's as far as Nash would go on the conspiracy theory. (He also didn't reveal what Jack Nicholson said to him during the game that made him laugh so hard.) Coach Mike D'Antoni wasn't biting on the conspiracy theory either. But when asked about the jump ball, the I-don't-want-to-get-fined-for-blasting-the-refs expression on his face spoke volumes. "Oh, yeah, I understand what they (the conspiracy theorists) are talking about," D'Antoni said with a smile. "It's part of the game. What other clich?s do I have (for you)?" D'Antoni said Sunday's defeat stung more than any other in the 46 years he's been involved with organized basketball and likened watching video of the last few moments of overtime to "watching a car wreck." "It's one of those things that people say, 'Well, on the first and 15th of the month (payday) you'll be happy,' but you don't get over that one," D'Antoni said. "I don't care how much you get paid . . . That one hurt. That one takes the wind out of your sails." Suns owner Robert Sarver agreed. "We got screwed again," Sarver said immediately following the game during an interview on Channel 15. He also said the refs were "star struck" because of all the Lakers banners hanging inside the Staples Center. Sarver backed off a bit when he spoke to the Heat Index Monday. "The game was on TV and everybody saw it," Sarver said. "I don't think I need to pile on . . . I thought they were going to call a foul (on Walton). But that's my view . . . If I'm going to give away 50 grand (via a fine by the league), I'm better off giving it to charity." Sarver said the Suns contacted the NBA Monday about a few calls made Sunday, but he wasn't expecting the league to take any action. "It's a waste of time and really kind of futile," Sarver said. "(But) I think you do it because it makes you feel better." </div> Source
Still giving no credit to the Lakers. Kobe still had to make TWO buzzer beaters. Face it Phoenix does not match up well against the Lakers. This kind of crap is so stupid.
It's going to be hilarious when the Lakers finally get screwed by the refs. Instead of saying "playoffs are tough" and "let the players decide it" you'll all be screaming about the officials just like the Cavs game earlier. So predictable.

So predictable.</div> We are all OK with it because we got cheated in the first game and they got "cheated" in the fourth. I put cheated in double quotations because Nash said he never called a timeout. On a side note, we've been getting bad calls the whole season, its good to see some positive karma come our way. Somebody coming out with a comment like you did was "so predictable."
There's not conspiracy or controversy. Lakers were the better team. As a Lakers and Kobe fan, I'd like the Suns to be eliminated so Nash won't have a chance to get his MVP trophy in front of Suns fans.
regarding the post, it's exactly what i hv been saying in the other thread.. nash admitted that it wasn't a foul and he wasn't trying to call timeout because he must imply that the officials and the NBA are flawless. He must show his mvp class in order to remain himself a chance to become an mvp. Yet, he must also show his leadership toward his Suns team. That's y he mentioned diaw screaming for TO. This way, he can gain most out of the two sides. So nash stating that he didn't call timeout and he wasnt fouled doesn't directs us to the truth. ya, by watching this series, it highlights that LAL is as good as the suns because they can keep up with every sun's plays and even overtake the suns as shown in game 2 and 3. Game 4 was a critical one for both sides. Without doubts, Kobe, amazingly and admirably, made 2 invincible buzzer shots to tie and win the game. His game truly made me think that he deserves the mvp this year more than any other competetors. I can show respect to his game and clutch plays - that was one hell of a play he performed. However, the clutch play that ends game4 would not have occured without the heroic performance by the referees. Indeed, Tim Thomas and the suns benefitted in Game1 because of home court refereeing. One might say it is only fair for the laker ref to pull off that play in game 4. LAL officials are known for their spectacular performance in the playoffs; this is emphasized in 2002 and again 2006. That was a big time play by the ref - it hurts the SUns so much that it mostly concludes their season. This big time play is utterly similar to the ones in the 2002 conference finals when kings were eliminated in 7 games because of some clutch, yet biased, calls and obvious misintrepretation on Horry's buzzer shot. I was a king fan and those calls are definitely long term stingers that, even now, it still stings the same. It's surprising, somewhat disappointing, that after 4 years the LAL referees continue to shine on their distinctive abilities. If the laker cannot advance to the next round, the refs in upcoming games are the ones to blame. I truly admire Kobe's last shots. At the same time, I admire the referees having the ability to biasly judge the game under such immensable game pressure. damnn.....I wish the kings, one day, would luckily recieve some of these heros.
What do you mean when you say the "This big play is utterly similar to the ones in the 2002 conference finals when kings were eliminated in 7 games because of some clutch, yet biased, calls and obvious misinterpretation on Horry's buzzer shot."? What was wrong with Horry's buzzer shot I have that game on tape and I have watched it many times since then I don't even remember there being any kind of controversy besides Vlade crying and telling the media that it was a lucky shot and Horry retorting and saying that he better read the newspaper because that is what he has been doing his entire career... Was there some phantom foul that I missed during that last play. I think that you forget the fact that the Kobe lead Lakers over the years have shown an amazing ability to come back from significant deficiets through a combination of smothering defense and clutch shooting. It's what Kobe does as a leader. His intensity and lead by example ability rub off on the team. This leads to aggresive play on the part of the Lakers. And if you want to play the refs are biased and cheated us game the refs usually reward the more aggresive team. If you look at the games that the Lakers have lost in the playoffs its the same way the other team is aggresive and is the one getting the benefit of the doubt on calls. It swings back and forth it's just more memorable when the Lakers do it because it is suitably dramatic for the league's most storied franchise and because of that people tend to blame Laker comebacks on conspiracy theories and phantom fouls. The Lakers are the real deal and Kobe is the real MVP and Phil Jackson outcouched the hell out of the Mike D'Antoni in this series.
The Horry buzzer shot I was referring was not the 'Vlade crying and telling the media that it was lucky' shot. That one was the true buzzer beater. I believe that was in game6. Horry is famous for his buzzer shots and this 'lucky' one was not his only buzzer shot in the series. The one I was saying was a half time shot which was clearly shown in the replays that he still had the ball in hand at 0.0. I forgot what game it was, I believe it was game5 maybe?. TOo bad I do not have the series on tape. During the last play of game7, if you did not see the phantom foul, I think you selectively missed it. King's staff, coach, players fans were furious after that phantom foul occured and called against the kings as 'Bibby's bloody nose fouled Kobe's elbow'. Correct, most of your points are well made and true. '...If you look at the games that the Lakers have lost in the playoffs its the same way the other team is aggresive and is the one getting the benefit of the doubt on calls. It swings back and forth it's just more memorable when the Lakers do it because...' their refs do it at the most critical moment of the series which directly lead lal to a victory or the next round - needless to mention again, 2002 and 2006. I know that there is always obvious home court advantage in the playoffs regarding officials and I think you do too. BUt you just don't see the fact that LAL won these games with major assistance from the officials. Of course, Im not referring to all of their games, only the 2002 con. finals and now 2006 round one (up til game4). kobe is the real deal for mvp, i agree fully. He has shown his superman abilities and finally begins to show his leadership since game1round1 of 2006. But the league's most storied franchise, the modern LAL, are not the real deal according to the way impression is brought to me in the past few years.
What a surprise....Suns losing the series and they are crying. I didn't hear a damn thing with the Game 1 foul on this forum. Nash said he WASN'T calling a TO that Diaw "tried" to call it but it was too late. Walton in no way fouled Nash. Its called a jump ball, if you have a problem with that then cry about the jump ball rule. I have never seen such sore losers in my whole life. Even the fans are resorting to personal attacks on Kobe. Pfffff....
It's obvious the Suns are getting shafted here.... Let's not worry guys, D'antoni has a smart plan that the Lakers can't stop.... Our superior FLOPPING DEFENSE !!!! Yes!!!
