Bell: "I have no respect for Kobe"

Bell's suspended for game 6, and this is great news for Laker fans.

    source:http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ask9...ov=ap&type=lgns

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> have no respect for him," Bell said. "I think he's a pompous, arrogant individual."

Bell said he had been repeatedly hit in the face by Bryant during the game.

"I got a bruised cheek here and I can barely open my jaw on this side," he said, indicating the left side of his face, "and that didn't come from nowhere, and I felt like I'd had enough of that."

Bell said it went from a game to a personal insult.

"When I get hit in the face multiple times, you've stepped across the line with me," he said. "It's not basketball anymore. It was basketball for four games, then when he hit me in the face, that was the last straw last night. It still doesn't excuse me, but that's just the way I felt about it."

At the other end of the court just before Bell threw Bryant down, the Suns guard said he complained to referee Greg Willard about getting hit in the face, and Lakers coach Phil Jackson hollered out that Bell "deserved it," adding a profanity to emphasize the point.

That's why Bell pointed to the Lakers' bench yelling "That's your foul!" after he threw Bryant down

I just listened to the podcast show of Dan Patrick interviewing Raja Bell.

"I overreacted on the play." - Raja Bell
"Would you have done anything differently?" - Dan Patrick
"No, I would have done it again." - Raja Bell

So even though he realizes he overreacted, he wouldn't have done anything differently. He definitely deserves the 1 Game suspension.

I hate all this drama the Suns keep on starting. I can't wait for the Lakers to win tomorrow so we don't have to hear their whining anymore. Kobe's constantly being fouled and not getting the calls. I don't see him clotheslining somebody or trying to intentially harm them. Bell deserved that suspension.

That's the thing with the Suns, they CAN't get angry. A lot of teams take the personality of their coach and/or leader and Steve Nash being the soft spoken, "It's okay guys, we can do BETTER [IMG]" type of attitude will lead them out of the first round. For the most part, I like Steve Nash leadership skills and more guys should be like him as far as the leadership goes but in this case his leadership style won't be of much help because he lacks that fiery demeanor and go get it attitude, not to mention their only physical guy that would get into someone face and play angry which is Bell...is expected to sit out(and Kurt Thomas is still in no shape to play). But then again maybe it's not so bad for the Suns that Bell is sitting out, it could probably be beneficiary for them because God knows what type of game Kobe would have if Bell is in front of him all game long.

Now you know what alledged "Kobe haters" think of Kobe. I think pretty much all of those thoughts about Kobe other than the killing part and I think alot of non-Laker fans do to.

Ya'll are being dumb. Sayin go cry to his mama etc. did you not read that kobe was hitting Raja in the face. Bruised his cheek, and can barely move his jaw. If that was happening to me, and no calls were made, i wouldve laid Kobe out as well.
Plus it's not like Raja went to the press and was crying, you act like he's a baby or somehting. He was made so he took him out. How is that being a cry baby??
Plus Brian, the reason Suns are scared of losing this next game, cuz they'll be w/o Raja. There worried because Raja Bell has been the premier defender on the scoring chap, and shuttin him down (somewhat) He isnt a bad player at all, and saying you wanna kill him is a little obsurd.

good point, but i didnt see kobe hit raja at all in the face, and i watched the whole game. of course i could have missed it, but considering all the other crap that raja has pulled, im pretty sure hes lying about this just to get people on his side.

because when kobe got knocked right in the face by TT, and the refs didnt call a foul, i didnt see him going around complaining to everyone

raja is a pretty good defender, ill give him credit for that. he brings hustle and intensity to the suns squad, but he has never shut kobe out. like i said before, kobe could easily have scored 30 or 40 or even 50 points every game this series, but the thing is, the only way we can beat the suns is if we spread the ball around.

also, i know the killing comment wasnt that appropriet, but im pissed as hell

Wasn't he complaining in Game 1, when he got hit in the face and had a big knot on his forehead? (Which of course should have been a foul) Bell can't even open up his jaw(from what he said) and no call. So it's sorta hypocritical to say that Kobe didn't go around complaining to everyone, when he did. Kobe handled it much better than Raja did, but I sure hope Phil Jackson didn't say that to him, because I would lose respect for him.

Yeah the quote about PJax saying that doesn't sound like Phil at all. I'm sure the media would have picked it up and been all over it if PJax actually made those comments.

Raja Bell came into this series letting everyone know he has a personal vendetta with Kobe Bryant. He feels Kobe doesn't respect him enough and thinks of him as a lesser man. This feud stems all the way back when Bell was a 76er and Kobe used to practice with the team as a high schooler. Holding a grudge for over 10+ years is borderline psychotic if you ask me.

I don't think Lakers fans have any room for talking trash about other players/teams with regards to any percieved lack of class. It's so bad I don't even have to mention the reasons, you already know if you haven't been in a coma for the last 2-3 years.

I thought that was kinda funny. Never picked it up during the game.

Well, he's pretty much gone from the series, so I have no problems with this. Just let him vent all that frustration. I'd like to see a response from Jackson though (other than "no comment"). I don't know if he said that or not, but, if he did, he should step up and take the blame for provoking Bell.

I don't how anyone can say with a straight face that they want to kill someone over a basketball game. I don't get how anyone can say that either the Suns or the Lakers had "all" the bad calls go their way. I don't understand why people are so prone to hypocritical, untrue hyperbole. If you think poor kobe has done nothing but put up with physical abuse from raja without a single call being made, you're mentally asleep at the wheel. Same if you think the opposite.

Both players, and to a lesser extent both teams, have been banging on each other. It's been out of control and the refs have failed miserably at reigning it in. The damned REFS should get fined for their lack of control over the series. Why no one is able to grasp this, I don't know. Maybe team pride and loyalty carries too much weight, dragging people below the surface of reason. Who knows.

The suns are so cool that they can't fit the whole name of their city on their logo. GO PHX! isn't that the name of the airport?

Jackson already said he didn't think Bell would get a suspension (made the comment before the announcement of bell's actual judgement). He and Kobe both said they'd prefer if he wasn't suspended, for reasons of wanting to have a "clean" win against the Sun's best players. Though I think that's a bit disingenous. I'm sure they're happy one of the Suns' best defenders is out.
