Because he's had bad knees in the past, but he's been cleared by doctors. He also has canceled all his workouts since the Laker one. If he wasn't injured in college and stayed another year or so, he'd be a def. top 10 pick.
He's from SoCal right? Maybe he wants to stay in the area. The Lakers would be a perfect place to play?

i thought the lakers were pretty aggressive last year and rolled the dice with taking bynum in the draft and trading butler for kwame. bynum is not the answer to a quick contender status but could prove to be the key for the lakers having a very good team for the next decade. kwame looked good at the end of the year when mihm went down and now phil has given him the goal of posting 15ppg/10rpg next season. as for what to expect next year, i don't see huge changes coming. mihm might be moved for something, there's the mle and the draft. any significant player coming would be at the cost of odom and bynum. i'm not sure the lakers want to part with either of them. the current roster is very young and still improving (see last 1/4 of the season and playoffs). i think the lakers are going to be banking on the development of the young players and better consistency throughout the team. i could be wrong but that's what i'm reading into based on what i've read from the lakers brass and coach. lastly, i don't think the lakers are looking at staying in 7th or 8th place from year to year. it's still jerry buss's team and he plays to win.
What about a Chris Mihm for Antonio Daniels trade? Daniels and Arenas aren't the best of friends, and have struggled at times on the court together. Washington is looking for a solid center.

I like the fact Daniels can also play minutes at SG to give Kobe a breather. Just out of curiosity, what's the tension between Arenas and Daniels?
From what I've seen and read, their games just don't mesh together. It's nothing personal between the two, it's just their games don't combine. Daniels sometimes likes to control the ball, Arenas likes to control the ball.
I'll bet on Chris Duhon becoming available. The Bulls and Hornets are supposedly in heavy talks to swap Tyson Chandler and Malik Allen for PJ Brown and J.R. Smith. This would create a log jam at guard for the Bulls.

I know Daniels wanted to be a Laker last summer, but the team didn't want to give more than a two-year deal because of their 2007 cap plan. Since the 2007 cap plan has been trashed, maybe there's still some interest. I'm probably one of the few Laker fans who like Chris Mihm. I actually prefer him starting over Kwame Brown because he's more consistent. I'm still hoping the Lakers can deal Mihm for Marcus Banks in S&T.
i would rather die than see jamaal tinsley playing point for the lakers. if they could make a run for chris duhon, that would be great. duhon plays solid d and is just all around a solid player. i hope the lakers can pick up an enforcer, maybe reggie evans (someone who can knock the crap out of anyone who dares mess with kobe)? another player i would like to see them make a run at is adrian griffin - strong perimeter defender, could come in and let kobe do his thing on offense without having to guard the other team's best player night in night out. and just wishful thinking here...bring nick van exel back so he can retire a laker!!!! (no way will this happen...) although i haven't really looked into the salary cap viability of these moves, these are just a few players i would like to see the lakers bring in.
I'm a little pissed. You want to tell me we couldn't offer more than Austin Croshere for Marquis Daniels? That's BS. Aaron McKie, Brian Cook, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm....and we couldn't get a deal done.
I was looking over our roster today, I just realized, we have one of the softest teams in the league. We're also lacking athleticism at small forward, with Devean George leaving. Ronny Turiaf is the only physical frontcourt player for us. Brian Cook looks like the odd man out, and he has some decent trade value. One player we should look at is Ronald Dupree. He's an underrated defender and shouldn't go for much in free agency.

We don't really have any players that like to bang down low besides Ronny....
i think ron artest has a opt out in 2007 offseason? theres gotta be a way to get him! we had our chance wit indy but we wouldnt give up Bynum! kobe wanted him bad! might not be possible wit vlad here! we pick offense over defense! will see how vlad does this season! i got high hopes but artest sounds better!
I just thought of this, and I don't know so much what to think of it. But... How do lakers fans feel about attemptin to sign Dermarr Johnson who played with the Nuggets last year. He seems like a solid player once again, solid defense can hit that 3-ball sometimes. Could be a replacement for George?
I'm not too worried about replacing George, I think Mo Evans will be a great backup for Radman/Kobe, he's pretty tough, and a good defender.
Right, Mo sort of slipped my mind. I was just wondering because Dermarr has always struck me as a solid player, but from what I've seen Mo Evans is good, and will give some good defense for the subs.
Jamall Tinsley at point, no way. Jermaine O'Neal is a marquee player but, to invest that ammount is not worth it. It's probably elitist but, not everybody should be a Laker. Defenitely ditch: Devean George, Von Wafer, Shammond Williams, Jim JAckson, Aaron McKie, and J.R. Pinnock, and Devin Green. Keep the rest and let it roll! starting 5: 1)Vujacic, 2)Kobe, 3)Odom, 4)Radmanovic (Radmanovic is better at the 4 because he draws the defending 4 from the post, this would allow Odom to work against a 3 down low, he's also a decent rebounder) 5)Brown Reserves: 1) Parker, Evans, Farmar 2)Parker, Profit 3) Walton, Cook 4)Turiaf, Cook 5)Mihm, Bynum So obviously really thin at the 4 Kiki Van DWeghe is NOT Laker material, The only GM that need sto be here in LA besides Kupcake, is the LOgo#44 Thanks for posting something thatwas thoughful and deliberate
I still can't see Sasha at the point, he really is more of a 2-guard, look for Smush to keep the job 'til young Farmar can learn and develop. And we shouldn't give up on Pinnock and Green, they can help our future, they both have looked great in the Summer League. Also, Evans is more of a SG/SF, he'll be backing up Radman/Odom and Kobe. BTW, Welcome to JBB! I'm new here too.
