<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Now that the dust of the 2005-06 season has more than cleared for the Utah Jazz, it is proper time for the analyzing to begin. Here are a few questions to ponder: Was it a successful season? What were the bright spots? What were the challenges? And finally, what do fans have to look forward to? WAS IT A SUCCESSFUL SEASON? It obviously depends on who you ask. Most Jazz fans should be ecstatic with Utah's 15-game improvement. On the other hand, some will dwell on a third consecutive trip to the NBA Lottery. While expectations tend to get higher as a team tastes some success, people need to be realistic with both preseason prognostications and how the season ended. Most anticipated 32-38 wins and they finished with 41. The Playoffs would have been a fabulous accomplishment, but such an improvement is an excellent sign that the rebuilding is not only going well, but may be completed sooner than later. Take away the injuries and add a few pieces here and there and it is not that difficult to picture Jerry Sloan's squad qualifying for postseason play in 2007. To sum it up, it was indeed a successful season for the Utah Jazz. WHAT WERE THE BRIGHT SPOTS?</div> Link
Bright spots were few, but, for me the bright spots are: 1. Deron Williams can play, and is the right draft pick for this team. 2. Boozer not only can play, he is willing to be a leader and play big for the Jazz. He may earn his salary yet. 3. I was glad they didn't get into the playoffs...Would have been a net negative for next season...Getting swept in round one is not a great way to finish.
Memo Okur has come a long way since he first signed with the Jazz. He was one of the most improved players in the NBA this season. With Boozer playing in only 33 games, he had a bigger role and averaged 18 PPG and 9.1 RPG. He played 82 games for the second straight season.
Y'know...The Jazz had a better W/L record than several of the teams that made the playoffs in the East. Yet, I'm still glad they sat out the postseason play. It is a bright spot that they almost double the wins from the previous year.
