Why do the NFL talk shows always talk about the Eagles still being the elite team of the NFC? (this means you ESPN) the Eagles are so over rated, it pisses me off so much. I can't stand how every analyst wipes their ass every week. They got lucky last week, but they just got manhandled today. I guarantee you that some analyst will still find some positive about todays game to write about. Does anyone else know what I mean?

The Giants, Cowboys, Seahawks and Panthers

Falcons, Eagles and Skins are close

I know exactly what you mean.

I am learning something about football analysts over the years. They are creatures of habit. If they have reported about a team in a certain way for more than one season, then they will continue to report about that team in that way. They have troubles changing. This is why the Bengals are still the 'surprising' Bengals (even though most people could see the change coming), the Eagles are still an elite team, and why the Rams don't get coverage (because analysts don't know what to think).

Analysts simply try to cover too much, and the result is that they know a little bit about a lot of different things, but not enough about any one thing to give a good opinion.

Eagles are not over rated. Fans(atleast me) see that we havent played too good this year. i dont see them as elite anymore.

the class of the NFC has to be the Giants, and it kills me to say it, i think the Eagles NFC runs are finished.

This thread is about the elite of the NFC not the elites of the NFC. Anyone can take the NFC right now that has at least 3 wins this includes:

    NY Giants
    Dallas
    Philadelphia
    Washington

    Chicago
    Detroit

    Atlanta
    Tampa Bay
    Carolina

    Seattle
    St. Louis

The list is based on who's not too late to do great [even if their already great] not who's doing the best. With the AFC it's more like you basicly have the teams that suck and the teams that are great unlike the NFC which has a bunch of average teams. It's only halfway through the season but I think the Falcons have the best chance to go to the super bowl. They are underrated because everyone got sick of them being overrated.

Now everyone says teh Giants are a good team where were all of you three weeks ago LOL, they play the niners next week and they are coming off a win but I have no doubt that if washington scored 50 on them, then we should score 60.
    Contenders in the NFC

    Giants
    Cowboys
    Philly
    Seahawks
    Bears
    Lions
    Tampa
    Atlanta
    Carolina

The skins are going to finish 7-9 tops, the rams will bottom out.

Picking one team in this mess is near to impossible. I think Carolina looks pretty balanced. The Giants are too, and while they may even end up with a bye, I can't pick them to represent the NFC quite yet. If the Eagles can fix their OL run blocking, I would probably put them in there too. Thats a big IF, but I think they'll stick around for awhile to find out.

I would say your top NFC Teams right now are the Seahawks and Falcons. Both have won at home and both on the road.

After that you get into your Carolina, Tampa, and the Giants.

Philly and Dallas follow as the outsiders looking in.

The Bears are the best of the worse in the NFC North.

Thats my take on it. In the End though as of now I would say Philly,Seattle,Atlanta, and Chicago will take the divsions with the Giants and Panthers getting in as Wild Cards. A lot could and will change though.

What about the Bucs? They're a good team too so you can't keep them left out.

I have Tampa in there. I don't think they'll make the playoffs but I have them on my list of the NFC Contenders.

I think tampa is in bad shape now with simms at QB.

Yeah he looked horrible out there against SF. Granted I only saw highlights but not one was good. Without a running game and a decent passing game you won't win games no matter how good your defense is. The Bears have an amazing defense and also has a solid runninggame and from what I saw the passing game is picking up. So no one try to use them as an example. Plus the Bucs play in probably one of the tougher divsions in football.

Well, That and they need to run more than 25% of the time. Even, Martz would call more runs and recognizes the importance of ball control.

    Especially with an injured qb

In that bucs vs 49ers game 21 of 34 for 264 and 1 td and 2 INTS, carnell williams rushed for 13 attempts for 20 yards. It looks like Carnell isnt 100%, and he only got 20 yards on against a bad defense. Hopefully he wont be 100% next week

The only thing that will help tampa is a great defense, it will help them win some games. I just hope its not next week against the panthers, cuz im flying down to tampa and i wanna get to make fun of the bucs fans when they are losing
