He is a lengthy, smart decision maker, able to create own shot when he wants it, solid jumpshot, and great defense. He is that team's engine along with hinrich but deng does it all rebound, run, shoot, shut down opposing team's best scorer... He is really a two playing the three if he is switched to the two watchout. Other players with the same potential are: Tayshaun Prince, Richard Jefferson, Andre Igoudala, Shaun Livingston these four plus Deng are the future of the NBA I hope the Lakers get rid of Odom for any of these players with Deng being at the top of the wish list. He's going to blow up next season.

Odom as you say lacks effort... Livingston is the next magic johnson yes Id trade odom for him and not think twice about it. Why do you think the clippers tured down deals for players of similar caliber ie Paul Pierce. Luol Deng is the most underrated player he was the reason duke went to the final four when he was there. He is a workhorse... everything Odom is not. He comes in and does the dirty work yet he is a finesse player also this is a lethal combination if you look at all the guys listed they have a great offensive arsenal and have the ability to bug or shut a guy down.

Alright look the Lakers had Odom last year and they missed the playoffs how do you explain that? I mention Deng as a superstar based on the situation. He is the perfect compliment to Bryant's game as are those other players. Scottie Pippen would not have been that successful in another team other than the bulls in th 90's he was however the perfect fit in Chicago because he complimented Jordan well. In the same way these players compliment Kobe. The Bulls of the 90s is the best team the NBA has EVER seen and thats saying a lot seeing how I am a die hard Lakers fan and loved Showtime but no way could they beat the 90's bullls squad with Jordan in his prime in a seven game series. Deng would be Kobe's Scottie Pippen staying in the shadows as the facilitator to Kobe freeing him up for easy shots and bailing him out in the form of rebounds or hitting the mid range. I agree with you that there is no other player like Odom around but he's not a guy you build a team around just look at the failed experiment with the clippers. He can't shoot consistently, he's clumsy, he's weak, he's slow for his size, and he lacks heart (the biggest part of a player's game second to only physical ability look at Kwame Brown and Earl Boykins if you put earl's brain and heart in kwame's body he'd be Tim duncan). These are all my opinions and I guess we'll never really know but I'd trade Odom for Deng and if you think thats not a fair trade then heck throw in hinrich he is steve Kerr with athleticism.
lakers missed the playoffs last year? what team were you watching? have you seen the last stretch of laker games at all? besides the game 7 in the playoffs, odom played really well. the guy is the initiator of the offense. he has shown he has the ability to hit the three, and the ability to hit the mid range. you are saying how deng will become kobe's scottie pippen? how did that work out! deng hasnt even proven yet that he can consistently be the second scorer. heck, on the bulls, at times he is not even the third scorer, yet you say we would be better off swapping odom for deng? who will run the offense? who will create mismatches for the opposing defense? who will step up and be the second scorer? listen, if deng is swapped for odom, the lakers will be a plain mess. there is no way they will make the playoffs. im not taking away anything from deng, but if he is our "second best player", which he most likely will be with the absence of odom, this team will not be going anywhere. deng is nothing more than a role player at this point of his career, and like i said, i dont see him being anything more than just a solid starter through out his nba career
Thats why you get players when people see them as you do... nothing more than solid role players because you dont give up too much for them if we offered odom to the bulls for deng we could prob get their second first round pick or maybe even chris duhon in exchange for maybe von wafer.
your not getting my point across. odom is the full package. he scores, rebounds, passes, and makes plays. if we swap him and wafer for deng and duhon, who would be our second scorer? do not tell me deng because most of the time, he isnt even their third option, so how do you expect him to come to the lakers and all of a sudden explode to be a second option? duhon is good and all, but the guy isnt known for his offensive abilities. he is more like another role player along with deng. aquiring the 16th pick would be nice and all, except this draft is extremely weak, and i do not find it possible at all for us to get a player to come in immediately to fill in odoms void. what im trying to here is, odom is extremely valuable to this triangle offense. the guy is extremely versitle and causes miss matches on defense for opposing teams, all of which deng can not do. with that being said, if we swap odom for deng, we will only be getting worse, not better PS: this trade wouldnt even work out because of the contracts
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Two weeks ago NBADraft.net reported that Quincy Douby likely had a first round promise from a Midwest team. According to contacts, the rumored Midwest team with a promise to Douby is the Chicago Bulls. Chicago coach Scott Skiles has the same agent as Douby and the Bulls appear intent upon adding Douby to their backcourt of Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and Chris Duhon. After winning the second pick in the draft lottery, the Bulls are assured of nabbing one of the top bigmen in the draft. With LaMarcus Aldridge likely to go first overall, the Bulls will select between Andrea Bargnani and Tyrus Thomas, allowing them to go small with their second pick. Douby is similar to Gordon in that he is more of a scoring small guard. Should the Bulls end up making a blockbuster deal including Gordon for Kevin Garnett, Douby would be able to give the team a similar type of player. NBADraft.net spoke with a scout with Chicago on Wednesday who said that the Bulls have had Douby in for a workout and were impressed but denied this report saying that there has been no promise made. </div> Source

I'll search him my self. Thanks for the info. Edit: I looked him up... He sounds pretty good, but I don't think he would fit in with the Bulls because he doesn't have a great shot. They said he has a decent shot.
Here is the list of players we have worked out thus far... Ronnie Brewer Shannon Brown Sean Dockery David Noel The following players visited for a workout on May 30: Hassan Adams Maurice Ager Quincy Douby Sergio Rodriguez Shawne Williams I would love to find some way to get Noel on the team. He is projected to go undrafted right now so hopefully we can sign him as a free agent.
Heres information from Bulls.com - http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/draft_2006.html Have pictures and more info for people interested.

He has even been given the nickname 'Spanish Chocolate.' “Sergio is going to be a terrific NBA player,” said Danny Ainge. “Point guard workouts in particular are tough to evaluate, but he’s looked good.” [READ]</div> Source

According to Thomas' agent, Brian Elfus of ESM Sports, he has been working out at Disney's Wide World of Sports for the past three weeks under the tutelage of a strength and conditioning coach and also NBA player and former LSU standout Randy Livingston ? another one of ESM's clients. Elfus did not rule out Thomas working out for more teams after a brief appearance at the pre-draft camp next week in Orlando in which he won't participate in any games. "He might work out for the top four teams," Elfus said. "Maybe even more. Especially because there's a good chance there will be some maneuvering towards the top. We've got to cover our bases." i dont like tyrus, reasons i have stated before in this thread. but that doesnt mean he wont be anything special.
If where going by guarentees we are going to draft Thomas with the 2nd pick and Douby with the 16th. I personally think it's all smokescreen, but we will see.
