<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When the only certainty in the NBA draft is that there are no certainties, Washington guard Brandon Roy might be the best bet for a team with a top-five pick. That's if you buy into the predraft hype of prognosticators who believe Roy is the "most NBA-ready'' of the current crop of prospects. Consider Duke guard J.J. Reddick sold. Reddick, who also is represented by agent Arn Tellem, has been working with Roy in Los Angeles between tryouts with teams holding high first-round picks. "He's a pro right now; he plays like a pro; he carries himself like a pro,'' Reddick said as the league's predraft camp ended Saturday. "I love going against great players, and Brandon is as good as any guard in the draft this year. I'd never had a chance to play with or against him, so it's been really nice. He's definitely pushed me. ... I think he's going to have a great rookie year and a great career.'' Some believe the Bulls believe the same thing. There's a definite buzz going around that general manager John Paxson could bypass big men LaMarcus Aldridge of Texas and Tyrus Thomas of LSU and tab the 6-6 Roy, last season's Pac-10 player of the year and consensus first-team All-American, with the No. 2 pick.</div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think that the choice is between Thomas and Roy. The reason has to do with playing philosophy and position. The Bulls prefer Thomas due to his toughness and fast motor. Aldridge is more skilled offensively, at the moment. But Thomas has a big upside. As for Roy, the questions here are whether the Bulls can solve their needs in the frontcourt via free agency, combining him in the backcourt with Hinrich and Gordon. </div> Here's a quote from Ford's chatwrap.

Here is the thing I don?t understand about Roy. If we draft him who comes off the bench? We could move Roy to small forward, and start him along with Hinrich, Gordon, Nocioni, and someone we grab in free agency. So we have the most talented players on our team, on the court at the same time, but where does that leave Deng? If we do draft Roy someone is getting traded, be it Gordon or Deng. There is not room enough for all those players on one roster. I still prefer Aldridge over any of them. To me he is exactly what we need. He already has a mid range game, and has all the skills needed to have a dominant post game. He just needs someone to motivate him into becoming the best overall player he can be. He has great work ethic, and is always in the gym. Not to mention he will probably end up being the safest pick in this draft. I am not at all sold on Thomas. He seems like a smaller Tyson Chandler (if you can believe that) he isn?t strong enough to be the most presence we need now or any time in the future, nor does he have the size to be a guy that can back you down, and shoot over you. If he does develop, by the time he does, it will be time to decide if we want to resign him or not. Thus we have the sequel to the Curry/Chandler movie we saw this past summer.

Like most analists say, drafting Roy would allow us to play a 3 guard rotation with Hinrich and gordon. all three can play both positions. And to answer your question about who would start: i could see Hinrich and Roy start, with Gordon coming off the bench as a deluxe 6th man, and problably playing the bulk of the 4th quarter. In my view, no way that makes Deng (or Nocioni) expendable. With Nocioni seeing a lot of playing time at the 4 (with great results by the way, as we saw against the Heat), there's plenty of playing time to go around. In my view, it makes Duhon expendable, and a possibility to be traded. but not Deng. Imagine we draft Roy, and sign Prysbilla or Mohammed for the Center position. that would actually make sense to me. It would give us a very solid 8 man rotation of: - Hinrich - Gordon - Roy for the 2 backcourt positions - Deng - Nocioni - Songaila for the 2 forward positions - Chandler and Prysbilla for the center positions Add a big man prospect that we could pick up with our 16th pick (maybe Simmons) or via free agency, and that would give us a very good team imo. Now, that being said, if i would have to make the decision, i would also pick Aldridge (assuming he doesn't go nr.1) and draft a big guard with the 16th pick (sefolosha). But if Aldridge goes 1, and considering Thomas would prefer to play the 3 in the pros (see his interview for Draft Express), i would not hesitate to pick Roy over him.

I can?t see Gordon accepting a return to the bench after how well he played in the playoffs, and a majority of the regular season, nor can I see us keeping Deng on the bench much longer. However, I think Deng would be more open to coming off the bench than Gordon would. Gordon has the potential to average 20 points a game this upcoming season if used correctly. I don?t really see why we should move him to the bench. Although, Roy is a talented two guard with good height. I cannot see him being as good as Gordon in his rookie season. The more I think about it it?s more likely that Roy would come off the bench during his rookie campaign then either Deng or Gordon. Eventually though we are going to have to decide who we are going to keep, and who we will let go it will be too much talent and egos (particularly Gordon) to fit into one back court. Gordon doesn?t see himself as a sixth man type player, despite how others may view him, I definitely see this causing tension. As you can see I am not high at all on drafting Roy. Aldridge is my pick, but he seems to be the third guy on our depth chart right now (if you believe reports). Maybe we are setting a smoke screen and will end up taking him though who knows.

You're probably right about that. it makes more sense since gordon is the more experienced and our main scorer. but eitherway, we have roy as the big talented 2guard with defensive skills we've been looking for. And the point you bring up about having to choose who to re-sign, is in my view actually a good argument for drafting roy. I really hope that deng will break through in a big way next year. but at the same time, if it does happen, it will make it very difficult for the bulls to resign both him and gordon. So drafting roy could make for a good backup plan. But again, i'm just playing devil's advocate here. I also would prefer the bulls to draft aldridge, for various reasons that you also already have mentioned. I believe we can get the big guard we need with our second pick (again, sefolosha!) or some other way. but the point i was making was not roy over aldridge, it's roy over thomas. thomas biggest assets seem to be rebounding, blockings shots, basically the same type of player that Chandler is. he won't be the inside scoring presence that we need (at least not the first few years). And he seems to prefer playing the 3 in the pros. moreover, you can get rebounding and defense through free agency (prysbilla or mohammed). So if aldridge should be picked n 1, i think roy would be a better choice for us than thomas.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> 1. Troy Murphy and No. 9 for No. 2 and something, maybe Michael Sweetney. This is one you hear the most about. The Warriors are desperate for a big man and figure to want a shot at Aldridge or Thomas. They've got to pare payroll and Murphy has five years left, escalating up to almost $12 million. For the Bulls he would be a power forward who could start and hit a jump shot. And the Bulls could use the No. 9 pick and probably get a shooting guard, wing player or combo guard like Ronnie Brewer, Randy Foye or Rodney Carney and still get another big man at No. 16. 2. Grant Hill and No. 11 for No. 2. The Magic would love to move up almost anywhere. It has been trying to move up for Shelden Williams, which wouldn't require a No. 2. It is highly doubtful the Bulls would take such a chance because Hill may not be able to play, though he has played well when he has been able to the last two years. He only has one year left on his deal, which may be a way to preserve salary-cap room for a better free-agent class in 2007. 3. Paul Pierce and No. 7 for Luol Deng and Nos. 2 and 16. Boston says there's no way it is trading Pierce, though rumors have circulated again. I believe the Celtics this time. But Boston's vision has been a young, athletic team and with Deng and No. 2 with the youngsters they have they could be interesting. With No. 7, the Bulls could get a solid big man like Williams, Hilton Armstrong or even Bargnani. 4. Theo Ratliff and No. 4 for No. 2. Portland wants to move up and probably get a shot at Aldridge with the chance of losing Joel Przybilla. It's also time to dump Ratliff's salary. With No. 4, the Bulls probably could get a player they want, maybe even Brandon Roy, and then have some big-man insurance and maybe even make a deal for Tyson Chandler. 5. Stromile Swift and No. 8 for No. 2. I figured the Rockets would like a shot at Morrison to go with McGrady on the perimeter, though the possibilities are endless if they can get up that high and are looking for an athlete. You say Swift is that, but he hasn't worked out there and is likened by some to Thomas. Maybe Scott Skiles could light his fire and then the Bulls get a shot at one of the big guards at No. 8.</div> Source Can?t say I would mind the Boston trade. We get our superstar. Although, we lose Deng we get a talented player who can start for us at the three, and is one of the more underrated players in the league. New lineup... PG- Kirk SG- Gordon SF- Pierce PF- Nocioni C- Chandler Scenerio number five is bull. Why would we want another underachieving, inconsistent big man who is overpaid. One is enough no thanks.
Damn That Paul Trade would be awsome! Paul and Ben! If I could get Paul in his prime...... F this mediocre draft. Lets get some instant Power!!!! Go Bulls!!!!

Edit: Might just be dreaming here, but what if we can throw in Tyson Chandler in that deal then use our money in free agency to bring in Ben Wallace. Hinrich, Gordon, Pierce, Nocioni, and Wallace. Instant contenders!
Great! That paul Idea woke me up. And the number 7. It would be great for both Teams. Because The celtics need some new blood and Chicago needs that solid "go to" guy. Chicago would covet a player like Paul who works his butt off every night. My Only concern is will he be willing to play D. Because you know skiles stresses defence ALOT! ANd i also think that Paul wouldnt mind coming to a playoff team. What bothers me is the question "will the celts trade to an eastern Confrence Team?" On the other hand that #2 pick should seem mouthwatering to them. Plus Deng is no hoe either. But if the trade does happen ill feel bad for Deng because he wont be in a winning situation. Go Bulls!!!

Remember during the all star game when the four Pistons where on the court who was the other player out there with them? Paul Pierce. Pierce has good size, and has a motivation to win. I honestly think he has just as much pure talent as players like Wade, Lebron, Kobe, etc. he had arguably his best season this year. Man if he came to Chicago I would go nuts.
Yeah Paul Pierce is awesome I remember reading that at NBA Rumors Insidehoops, but didn't think that would happen, so didn't think much of it. However if he came to the Bulls he would instantly become one my fav players. Drafts are always tricky, so if we can pull off that trade, that would be great. Only drawback is Deng, but you got to make sacrifices. The bulls were always looking for that superstar and Detroit showing they are beatable and Shaq another year older, with this trade the East could be Chicago's taking next year. Then again Lebron is just scary. Come on Danny Ainge the Celtics aren't going to make the playoffs, get young and trade Pierce and the #7. By the way Shelden Williams at #7 or Patrick OBryant who's pretty big? Who do you guys think the Bulls would select? Hopefully Aldridge at #2, and at #16 JJ Red, Brewer, or even Ager (loved him at MSU)

The Lakers are talking with teams in the top 5 about trading up, and one rumor has them sending Lamar Odom in return for the rights to the #2 and #16 picks. This trade might have to be consummated after the draft, with the Bulls picking for the Lakers on draft night, when Chicago has cap space to take on a bigger contract. Moving Odom?s 40 million dollar contract would give the Lakers room to explore the talented free agent class of 2007. ^^^ I would much rather keep our picks. We don't need Lamar odom and another big contract. We have Deng and Nocioni already at small forward and might end up drafting a power forward in the draft so there is no need for him.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The fallout for Duke's J.J. Redick over his arrest early Tuesday for drunken driving probably will not be severe. Nevertheless, it could hurt him. It could drop his stock for the upcoming NBA draft all the way down to No. 16, a pick the Bulls own. Click here to find out more! Redick is one of several shooting guards the Bulls are eyeing. Until Tuesday it didn't look like he would be available at 16. The arrest probably would not prevent the Bulls from drafting Redick, a team source said, but several NBA teams, including the Bulls, will scrutinize the incident and likely question Redick's maturity. A few days ago, it was believed Redick had locked up a top-10 selection in the June 28 draft. He canceled Wednesday's workout with the Orlando Magic, who have the 11th pick, because of a sore back but there was speculation Redick had secured a better spot in the draft. By Tuesday afternoon, his mug shot was plastered on the Internet alongside news of his arrest and questions about his draft status. In addition to drunken driving, he was charged with unlawful use of highways for an illegal U-turn. He had turned around as he neared a license checkpoint near Duke's campus, but police caught up to him in the parking lot of an apartment building. Redick, 21, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11 percent, exceeding North Carolina's legal limit of 0.08. According to the arresting officer's report, Redick had "very glassy eyes" and his breath had a "strong odor of alcohol." He was released on $1,000 bond and has a July 17 court date.</div> Source
Yeah, I thought Redick was going to be out for several months according to other articles before it said he's going to workout for teams next week.
