Why does everyone want Speedy? I'm pretty sure that he's going to be a bench player for his entire career. He is short (not good for triangle), isn't that good in defense, and has a really poor jumpshot.

I would love for us to get some of the following players

Sam Cassel
Bobby Jackson
Alonzo Mourning
Bonzi Wells
Keith Van Horn
Jannero Pargo
Kareem Rush

First off- KVH i know lol...you guys think I'm crazy, but he could come off the bench for some timely three's and he has a crap load of playoff experience- he's only been on a bad team once and that was for like a season with the 76ers.

The rest of those guys are all battle tested role players that could come off the bench (with the exception of Sam Cassel or Bonzi Wells) and I would love to have Wells running the point. He's a SF I know but we all know that PJ likes to turn forwards into PG's and Bonzi has established the reputation of being a playoff player, he ALWAYS turns it up a notch in the playoffs, which would give Kobe and Lamar some breathing room.

Imagine

Bonzi
Kobe
Lamar
Mihm
Kwame

I'm real confident in that group with the exception of Mihm..and kinda kwame lol

Matt Harpring

Reggie Evans? I don't want him here, only to futher the Kobe rape joke and stuff going on....I just know there is gonna be some stupid joke like "now Kobe can show Reggie how to do it on girls..." [IMG]

Am I the only one that wants Jumaine Jones back? I would let George go and sign Jumaine with some money.

Who I would want in <font color=""Purple"">purple and <font color=""Yellow"">gold

Sam Cassell - goes without saying
Bobby Jackson - Veteran PG who can shoot the three
Jumaine Jones - Showed some nice stats on Bobcats, as well as being more dependable with us.
Ben Wallace(Who wouldn't?) - Goes without saying
Rasual Butler - Solid Three, good bench or stater player.
Chris Wilcox - Dunking on Mihm [IMG]
Jared Jefferies - Solid SF that can come off the bench
Lindsey Hunter - Veteran PG
Darrell Armstrong - Veteran PG

If you look a couple posts above, I thought Jones should never have left the team.

Those are good but I wouldn't want Drew Gooden or Mike James. Why does everyone want Reggie "Ball Grabbing" Evans so bad? Wouldn't mind Wilcox or Cassell, I'm kind of iffy on Speedy Claxton but only if he is the only one left.

Most on my list we can get (except Big Ben) and I think everyone would agree on atleast 1 I posted.

Speedy Claxton would be great for the Lakers. He is one of the best guards (probably the best available) at controlling the pace of the game and can easily be just as effective on te fastbreak, not to mention he's arguably the quickest and fastest guard in the FA. For cheap, he would make a good addition.

I would love to see the Lakers go after the following players:
Ben Wallace = I don't know why but nobody talks about him. Did he say he was going to resign with Detroit? If yes persuit a sign and trade with Detroit, that would be sick.
Marcus Banks= We need a point a guard.
Alonzo Morning= All I have to say is the MLE and I see him moving on if Miami doesnt get past the Semis or the Eastern finals.
Bonzi Wells = He is a warrior remember him in Portland.
Tony Kukoc = MLE as well and he knows the triangle from head to toe.

If we could sign and trade for Speedy Claxton I would love it, but only if he came off the bench. He's a liability on defense and the only reason we'd want him is to penetrate and shoot the three against teams like detroit and the spurs. That means we'd need to get some more 3 pt shooters...we don't have many of those

Co-Sign. The playoff series against the Suns exposed the Lakers lack of team speed in the backcourt and ability to penetrate inside. Both of these guards give the Lakers a new dimension to their roster and upgrades the backcourt immediately.

I'd rather go after Banks, he's faster, younger and is better defensively. The Lakers wanted him originally in the Celtic deal, so he should be on target as a free agent.

The other player I want back is Laron Profit, and I think he will sign for cheap. Even though he was waived he was still at Laker practices and working out with the team. He was picking up the Triangle offense faster than most of the new players and I got a kick out of watching him trying to immitate a lot of what Kobe does.

Another bang for the buck free agent I'd like to see the Lakers pursue is Jackie Butler from the NY Knicks. He's under the radar in the free agent market, but Butler puts up some solid stats when he gets minutes. He's a good defensive center and can give the Lakers a shotblocker off the bench.

The other big man option I like is DJ Mbenga from the Mavs. Young, shotblocker who really goes after it and has some raw talent PJax and Kareem can mold into a solid player.

PG - Banks or Speedy
SG - Laron Profit
PF/C - Jackie Butler or DJ Mbenga

I think Duhon would work really well in the triangle we definately need some more toughness/defense at the point. I am sick of getting killed every year by the quick pointguards of the league like Parker, Nash, Bibby, Billups, etc. We have been getting killed every year since the late 90s by these guys. I'm sick of it. Because of that I want Duhon so we finally have a point guard who is defensive minded and has proven ability to play under pressure both at Duke and in Chicago. Maybe we could figure out a sign and trade with Smush and Duhon doubtful but maybe.
