<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">Look at Emeka, talent and ability are just emitting from him like a fountain spilling gold. His injuries however stop him from reaching that potential. I think that if Emeka wasn't injured this season he would be on par if not a little bit ahead of D12. Injuries can make or break a career and usually if he has then in the beginning of his college career then I say pass him up because its just going to get more physical in the NBA. I say we look elsewhere.</div>

Was Emeka healthy his rookie year? For the most part, yes. I'm not saying we shouldn't worry about him getting injured, we should. But, anybody can get injured. If he's available when we pick, we have to risk it. We need a player who can give Lamar, our PF, and even Kobe a rest. Powe has solid ball handling skills. Imagine him against the other SG's in the post? Can you say domination.

Maybe we should take another Von Wafer! :rofl.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBADraft.net attended an informal workout for Leon Powe on Monday. Powe is looking as athletic and ripped as ever. He was impressive running the floor, shooting the ball well, and running through a series of plyometric drills.

He's definitely 6-7 as opposed to the 6-8 that he was listed, but his wingspan allows him to play much bigger than his height.

He's got a legit 7-foot plus wingspan, and his arms are extremely strong. His standing reach is that of a 6-9 player so his height is less of an issue. His body is incredibly ripped, he looks like he jumped out of a muscle magazine.

On the negative side, his shooting stroke is a liability as he has a mechanical release and shoots the ball too low. His release point is similar to Shawn Marion's.

Talking to NBA scouts, they wouldn't rule out the possibility of him getting into the first round but the consensus is that he's most likely an early to mid second rounder if he chooses to remain in this year's draft.

Despite his tremendous physique, one scout said they still have concerns about his ability to explode in traffic.

Proving that he can remain injury free for another season at Cal could put scouts minds at ease about his past knee problems.</div>

No his release point is like Marion's, meaning he shoots the ball like a line drive instead of a high arc. Again shooting mechanics can be fixed in one summer of dedication.

I don't think anyone drafting Powe is looking for him to drain 3 pointers, they are drafting him to punish teams inside the paint, draw fouls, and make his FTs. Powe is also very smart and patient when double teams come and finds the open man.

If they're projecting him for the second round, the Lakers have a great shot at him where they are. I want him, he's hard-working, smart, talented, and strong...all things the Lakers need an Kobe likes.

I know you love him shape, but it seems as if you have a soft spot for under sized power guys. Ike last yr, dude from Cinncinat this year and Powe. What do you see in these dudes? They (in my opinion) have a one diminsional post game and show no advantage against the power guys in the west. I know your saying Diaw is under sized but he is a versital player, he can put the ball on the floor and shoot. I just think Powe is a big name and a big risk due to his size and health issues.
My choice is under radar but he is a second rounder( I fore see Mitch trading his 1st rounder because he covets Marcus Williams and Phil loves Brandon Roy and J.J. Redick and since neither will be their I see L.A. trading out of the second round. So I see Bobby Jones from Washington as the optimal pick. Some one whos prime objective is to be a shutdown defender and slasher(a'la young Eddie Jones). Jones (per my research) is an academic honors student which gives him the brain capacity to pick up the triangle in a role players role.
According to "Draft Express" Jones is the type of player who looks to score on put backs and fast breaks as well as the open three(please read his report). Both (draft express & nba draft.com", compare him to Bruce Bowen, and both applaud his work ethic. The challenge that he would give Kobe in practice as well as in the workouts would be a welcomed challenge. Finally the fact that he is from California means that more than likley he grew up a Lakers fan, which means his heart is home and if you look at how home sickness has effected the 2 Queens New Yrks this year you can see how important it homecooking can be.

Powe can very well become a star in this league with his skills and work ethic. If his knees hold up, he can be an Elton Brand type player. Not Elton Brand, but a player like him.

I just see the NBA evolving to accomodate these type of players. Last year I liked Granger, and Ike after him.

What I like about Eric Hicks is his mentality on the court and bringing some toughness to the roster. I wouldn't use our 1st Round pick on him, but he'd be a solid pick up with our 2nd Round pick. James White from Cincinnati would also be player I'd like to see the Lakers take a strong look at.

I love Brandon Roy as well, but it's going to be hard to trade up high enough to draft him. He might be the best player out of this year's draft class when all is said and done.

I cannot imagine PJax wanting JJ Redick in Los Angeles. He's undersized and isn't a very good playmaker for the position he'd play in the offense. Redick is a volume shooter and looks uncomfortable when Duke ran halfcourt sets.

I also like Bobby Jones, I don't think he's as good offensively as Eddie Jones was coming out of college, but he can earn minutes with his defense.

Marcus Williams definitely has Mitch Kupchak written all over him, but there's no way PJax goes for him.
