<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DENVER (Ticker) - For the second straight year, Mark Warkentien will keep a general manager's seat warm.

The Denver Nuggets announced Wednesday that Warkentien, their director of player personnel, will lead the team's draft process.

Warkentien also will serve as the team's negotiator on basketball matters. He fills the vacancy created five days ago when general manager Kiki Vandeweghe was let go.

One year ago, Warkentien served in a similar role for the Cleveland Cavaliers, moving from director of player personnel to interim GM until Danny Ferry was hired. He joined the Nuggets prior to this season.

In his role with the Nuggets, Warkentien will be assisted by assistant GMs Jeff Weltman and David Fredman.

"We are not concerned right now about job titles," Nuggets executive vice president Paul Andrews said in a statement. "As an organization, the only titles we are concerned with are division, conference and NBA championship.

"Mark, Jeff, David and our veteran coaching staff have over 100 years of NBA basketball experience and we are extremely confident in their abilities to lead us through the draft."

The Nuggets have just one pick in the draft June 28, selecting 49th overall. They traded their first-round pick in acquiring forward Kenyon Martin, who played a major role in the team's disappointing finish to the season. </div>
