Sorry I didn't do that on purpose, it just slipped my mind. I wasn't implying anything. [IMG] I'm white. And my nationality is Irish[IMG]

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">LMMFAO, I was thinkin the same exact thing......I know this is a little off topic, but I've always noticed that some black folks try to find ways to hide their blackness.......It's funny when I see some black folks saying "hey I'm Creol".......there isn't some kind of deep history of the "Creol" race.....Creol = black.........I think some people just get a neg. image of what black is, so they try to deny it, and look down on it (I'm not trying to KL32 is like that, but there are certain people that it does apply to)......I have a Grandfather who is from the Carribean, but I know a lot of people from the Carribean are black......anyways I'll stop ranting.</div>

Well there are definately alot of black people in the Caribbean... especially the West Indies (or British Caribbean). But yeah... you hit the nail on the head. Again... not directed at anyone... but I have to wonder why some people would identify themselves as creole, west indian, jamaican, trinidadian, mixed (in certain cases), or any other identifier that doesn't begin with a 'B' and end with a 'K'.

Here.. I will help some people out. If back in 1963, you could not go in certain bathrooms and restaurants in America, you are indeed black.

I think you some of you are being too harsh. If somebody state's that they are from somewhere in the Caribbean, people generally assume you are black, unless you state otherwise.

I know most of the carribean is black, but that doesn't mean everyone there is. Iv'e seen white and chinese people in jamaica so you can't say that being from the carribean automatically makes you black.

Also i dont see whats wrong with stating your nationality in addition to your race. I said i was black and also mentioned my nationality, jamaican.

I didn't say the whole of the Carribean was black.

Hey I know that too well. I am from Jamaica and our motto is "out of many, one people" meaning that many different ethnicities and races make up one nationality. But in a thread that asks "what RACE are you?" nationality can be added... but unless you add the "race" part then you really didn't answer the question now did you?

No one said anything was wrong with specifying nationality in addition to race... what I question is the people who would answer a question asking one's race with their nationality alone... it would leave me to believe they don't know what race is... or they don't want to admit it... or they don't identify with race.

    I'm American.

*Waits for rant about the difference between nationalities and races.*

    Okay, I'm Caucasian.

It's interesting to see how many different types of people post on this board. A lot of people would just assume that because this is a basketball message board the majority of the posters are black, but I've noticed we have a lot of whites, Asians, and Hispanics who post on the forum as well.
