I was thinking about how the roster would look with the All-Time Lakers and I juss wanted to know who you guys would start and the order of your bench.
This is what I came up with:

    Starting 5:

    PG Jerry West
    SG Magic Johnson
    SF Elgin Baylor
    PF James Worthy
    C Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

    Off the Bench:

    SG Kobe Bryant
    C Shaquille O'neal
    PG Gail Goodrich
    SF Happy Hairston
    SF Jamall Wilkes

    Tell me what you think

Good team but mine would be

    PG-Magic Johnson
    SG-Kobe Bryant
    SF-Elgin Baylor
    PF-Bob Mcadoo
    C-Kareem Abdul-Jabar

then J. West, J. Worthy, G. Goodrich, R. Horry(because of his big shots), Michael Cooper.

I can't believe you, you have "KB8" in your username and in your avatar, and you put Kobe on the bench [IMG] . Kobe is one of the greatest player to ever play the game (people compare him to MJ) and you still put him on the bench [IMG] . No disrespect to Jerry West, but with that lineup, the defense in the backcourt is weak. Not to mention, Magic is better off as a PG.

    My lineup would be:
    PG: Magic Johnson
    SG: Kobe Bryant
    SF: Elgin Baylor
    PF: Kareem Abdul Jabbar
    C: Shaquille O'neal

    bench:
    PG: Gail Goodrich
    SG: Jerry West
    SF: James Worthy
    PF: Bob Mcadoo
    C: George Mikan

Up front we have two 7 great footers to protect the paint. I don't think anybody would want to drive in and face Shaq and Kareem. In the backcourt, we have two great guards that can switch in a pick and roll. Not to mention, the reserves can come in and run n gun with any team. This is the deepest team in the whole history of the NBA.

do we consider Wilt Chamberlain a laker also, otherwise i might have to change my lineup

Pretty sick lineup if you ask me.

I love KB8...dont get me wrong...but with all the players the Lakers have had in their great history Kobe might end up playing 6th unless you want to go with a three guard offense.

I think this is how the ESPN video games have their lineups:

    PG - Magic
    SG - Kobe
    SF - Worthy
    PF - Wilt or Kareem
    C - Shaq

I understand your point. It's nice that you giving respect to the legend and all, but that doesn't mean you can take all the credit away from modern players. If you put West in today game with all these athletic, fast, strong guards, West might be struggle to stay up with them. I had never witnessed West playing before (I think you don't either), but judging from seeing him in the old time Lakers' game video, West doesn't look like very athletic player, not so strong, but definitely a great shooter. In our modern game, I would compare him best to Ray Allen. It's kind of disrespectful to compare West with Allen, but from these two, you see a very similar trait: both are great shooter, not so much of a defender; strength, height, weight is comparable; And the talent level of these two can say to be slightly equal. In general my point is Ray Allen is 1 level below Kobe Bryant, so Jerry West shouldn't be any better than Kobe at all. If Kobe can scores 81 pts and add his defensive skill in the mix, I don't see a reason why Kobe should be a 6th man when he already surpass the great Jerry West in term of offensive talent and defensive ability. [IMG] Also Kobe is arguably the 2nd best 2 guard in the history of the NBA, no way Kobe should be bench in the All-Time Lakers lineup.
