I think we can all agree to disagree here. The fact is we need an improved and experienced EVERYTHING but we're torn between what direction we should go in because there's so many different issues. Coaching, general management, the players, it's all a freakin' mess and the draft ain't saving us.

We could have a great coach on board, but IMO with this team we could still wind up like the Knicks because we don't play defense or do the things most good teams do. I still insist that we need a good team design constructed by the GM (which means full inside-outside game plus playmaking ability) and at least four years to put a system in place from coaching. If guys aren't or can't be running any plays, then we need to fix it so they do. It's not basketball to just go out and run and not have a plan or not be able to move well without the ball. This whole pass n' cut/run n' gun was exactly what Musselman did for a while because it worked for a bunch of rookies. When we got more vets, we sort of moved to halfcourt, but some weren't following and we ended up running and playing small again... Muss was pragmatic about how to play his guys to get the most out of them, but we really need some sort of structure so we can control the tempo and we needed the talent to carry it out. That's why I can never really blame the coach because he's working for a franchise that historically has bad teams. Ever since Cohan took over in '94, management has been horrible in supplying the coaches with good talent through free agency, through the draft, and through trades.

If we can get more experience, good talent and guys who can run plays, then fourth quarters should be no problem. A well executed play is very hard to guard because it gets opposing defenses moving and it free up our guys for an easy shot freed up in advance.
