<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Franchise saviours are expected to be scarce when the Toronto Raptors begin a series of player workouts today in preparation for next month's National Basketball Association draft. ?These guys we think have a chance to fit into our team,? Jim Kelly, Toronto's director of player personnel, said yesterday. Kelly, president and general manager Bryan Colangelo and head coach Sam Mitchell are expected to be on hand for the workouts, which will continue through Friday at the Raptors' practice facility at the Air Canada Centre. Although many of the mostly U.S. college players invited to the workouts would be known only to ardent basketball fans, there are a couple of familiar names. Perhaps best known is University of Connecticut point guard Marcus Williams, considered a top-10 choice in some mock drafts. The Raptors will put Williams through his paces on Thursday. The 6-foot-2 Williams is rated the top point guard prospect in this year's draft, and the Raptors are keen to improve at the position. University of Illinois speedster Dee Brown is one of four guards who will have their Toronto auditions today. Brown won this year's Bob Cousy Award as the top point guard in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He is expected to go low in the first round or in the second round. The Raptors hold the No. 5 selection in the draft, pending the outcome of the draft lottery in Secaucus, N.J., on May 23. Toronto has an 8.8-per-cent chance of winning the No. 1 pick. There is 0.37-per-cent chance that the Raptors could fall as low as the eighth pick.</div> Source
