Dwyane Wade is already a fantastic player in the NBA. Jason Kidd was comparing him to a running back who can find the gaps and explode through them. Wade has all the athletic tools and strength to finish in traffic and has a lot of creativity around the rim. In the past few games, Wade has added a new weapon to his arsenal, the 3point shot. He's been draining 3's on a regular basis out of no where. Coaches have defended Wade in the past by baiting him into taking the 3point shot, instead of letting him penetrate down the lane for the old fashioned 3point play. With Wade shooting a high clip, this strategy goes out the door. Wade can get by his man anytime he wants with explosive first step. Double teaming usually doesn't work because Wade can split it or pass to the open man. With a steady 3point shot, he becomes near impossible to defend. The only downside I can see is Wade falling in love his jumpshot and losing his aggressiveness to drive to the rim. This happened to Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Kobe Bryant. They can all finish around the rim, but they are more reluctant to pull up and shoot the J. The commentators also mentioned Wade is adament on improving his defensive game. He has been spending time with Gary Payton to learn technique and this summer he wants to train with Kobe to learn how to approach the game with a defensive mentality. I've always criticized Wade's defense and have gone as far as to say it's piss poor. He was shakey in the Bulls series, but I've seen vast improvement during the series with the Nets. He's doing a better job of anticipating passes, and is taking advantage of his speed and long arms to cutoff penetration. Wade is quickly become a well-rounded player. It's always great to see young stars recognize their flaws and work hard to improve them. Hopefully some of the other knuckle heads around the league take notice.
Him and kobe wow..dwade is the next big thing. if he has defense and can keep a steady jump shot he will be unstoppable.
We'll get to see how much Dwyane learned on Christmas day when he guards Kobe, lol. Anybody else hoping for some DIFFERENT Christmas day matchups this year?
That what great players do. They are eager to learn the game and continue to get better all the time. Offense, defense. Superstars don't just play one side of the court, and Wade is determined to do that. I definitely enjoy watching him play, and if he trains with Kobe, he needs to take LeBron and Carmelo with him.

Ot takes alot less energy to take a three or jumpshot than it does to drive to the basket constantly. Less energy spent on offense = more energy for defense. The defensive stops for Wade will increase just like they did for Tmac, Carter and Kobe once they stoped driving all the time.
Does anyone realize how hard it is for a Guard to block shots? That's not a result of their skill or athleticism. That's the determination from a player that size that will try his hardest to jump high and get as much lift in order to contest a shot. Wade's ability to get a block is rare for Guards his size but he's so determined to TRY and get a stop that he doesn't think about his limitations and instead just goes and does it.
Yeah and he doesn't have the greatest hop either. He has about 38 standing vertical and a lot of NBA players have that. But with 6'10" wingspan and his ability to hang in the air make the difference. as far as I know, he only got posterized once. By Kristic.
He's been on plenty of posters. Just usually on the side you'd want to be on... Somehow, he has one move that almost always gets him open for a two handed throwdown... A quick spin baseline, then a straight shot at the rim.
Yea, I've been quite impressed with his progression, and those three's were not barely going in, he was swishing those bad boys. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah and he doesn't have the greatest hop either. Talent can make you an all-star, but work ethic is what boosts you into superstardom. Wade is a prime example of what you'd want in a player. Hard-working, dedicated, and willing to learn. It's going to be exciting to watch him in the next couple years as he progresses as a player.
Done what Lebron did. Add the one part of the game they didnt have much of, Shooting. Theyre still young theyll continue improving which is the scary thing! we could also be looking at a wade V lebron matchup if the cavs can finish the pistons.

I don't think MJ had better vertical than 40 or so I'm not sure but he used it so good. I think Wade does that too, using his jumping ability smart way.

It's similar to how Elton Brand and AK47 use their wingspan to block shots. All three take full advantage of their entire wingspan and it surprises the offensive player. I also noticed a lot of Wade's blocks come from the blind side. Playing with Shaq and Zo on the court allows Wade to roam around and block shots from behind. What Payton will teach him is how to use leverage and angles to defend a player. Being able to force an offensive player right into the heart of your defense is something Wade needs to improve on. He tries to take on his man by himself instead of using the other 4 players on the court to help him out. In the Bulls series, Wade was getting caught on Hinrich's hip a lot, and got off balance. To make it worse the weakside help wasn't there to rotate and help Wade out. I remember Shaq got a fould on one of these plays and yelled at Wade about it.
I just love the way most of Wade's blocks are so emphatic. I enjoy seeing someone's floater end up as an assist to some guy's beer in the eighth row of the audience.
Wow Wade with defense as well as his already huge arsenal of offense? Thats scary, and I am serious......
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">Wow Wade with defense as well as his already huge arsenal of offense? Thats scary, and I am serious......</div> Wade with defence WOULD be great...but why do people make a deal about him learning defence from Kobe. I mean kobe is a solid defender...but he's not THAT much better than a Mo Pete and he's certainly not a Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen or AK47 or Billups. Hell i'd actually say he would be better learning defence from the Battier's, Eddie Jones' and the Gerald Wallaces of the world. Kobe's a solid defender, but he's not among the best in the league like the million people with Kobe Bryant sigs would have you believe
