Joey Thomas was released by the Packers and was just picked up by the New Orleans Saints, where he joins former teammate Mike McKenzie.

Personally, I think this was a pretty stupid move. The kid's only 25 and was taken in the third round last year. I still think he'll be a solid corner someday.

In other news, Brett Favre said that his future with the team is pretty much tied to Mike Sherman. All things being equal, if Favre is faced with a new coach and a new offense to learn, he might just hang it up based on that.

Quite honestly, because Favre has said this publicly, I think Sherman's job security just got a little better. If Ted Thompson tries to fire Sherman, he's essentially firing Brett Favre as well...and Packers fans will never stand for that. Favre needs to retire on his terms...not because some bozo from Seattle is trying to force him out.

If he doesnt fire sherman cuz of farve, than he should step down and let farve run franchise. People who listen to farve about personnell decisions get screwed(Javon Walker). He should do what he thinks is best for team.

    Ok Miss Cleo [IMG]

How can you say Sherman will be gone. Although I think it could happen and either way I think this is Favre's last season. I have a strong feeling that Sherman will remain in Green Bay for ONE more year. We've been in every game this year. (Like any person who doesn't watch the Packers would know that anyways [IMG]) Plus we have all those injuries. Plus I live in Green Bay and when Ray Rhodes was the coach. It was "Fire Ray" all over the place and he wasn't on good terms with Ron Wolf. Where as Sherman seems to be on good terms as TT and no one is putting pressure on TT to find a replacement even before what Favre had stated.

Not every 4-12 or 5-11 coach gets fired. This isn't Madden 2001. Jeff Fisher picked in the top 10 last year with the Titans and he's still the coach for example.

Joey THomas being released was a bad move. I probably would have released Ahmad Carroll first.

How come the Pckers can never seem to have a good draft in relation to the draft? Nick Barnett was a good pick but they really dont look into these thingas, Carroll is too small.

Favre will give it one more year to maybe even break some more records

Actually the Packers have had the best drafts in the NFC North for the past 10 years dating back to Ron Wolf who was great at the draft most of the time. Carroll is only in his 2nd season and seems to be getting better. Sherman's drafts weren't bad either. Walker and Barnett were both Sherman. As the drafts got deeper though that?s when Wolf would work his magic and we'd find these late round gems especially on the offensive line. TT seemed to have a good draft this past year although some of those younger players have been forced in because the team lacks depth because of injuries and lost some players to free agency.

The only thing that upsets me about the Packers drafting Caroll is that they could have had Chris Gamble!

Man, I was upset on draft day...

Yeah that Carroll pick shocked me as well. He's getting better but I still wouldn't of let go Joey Thomas. I thought he was the better of the two.

What's wrong with that? The organization definately has to move on. Brett has had his time to shine. I think its time for him to hang it up.

Granted it might be time for the organization to move on. I also him confused. Brett Favre is playing great. He's near the top in TD passes and look at the guys around him. Ever hear of our RB that played this week. I know I didn't and I forgot his name already. Brett Favre could def come back for another year and do great. If he were on a talented team he would be a Super Bowl QB. GB is not a Super Bowl team. The Team has gotten worse. Favre has not.

I also don't understand what?s wrong with having Rodgers sit a year or two. It worked for Palmer. It worked for Pennington before he sustained his shoulder injuries.

So you are telling me that the Brett Favre who always finds a way to overcome adversity, can't overcome the Packers injuries this year? I guess Brett Favre IS human, after all.
