Maloofs could make a deal with a private contractor to get an arena, but they are trying to get the tax payers to pay for it. No, I don't think they are getting an arena if they are relying on public funding, CA can't sacrifice that kind of money right now.

Lakers fans LOVE this topic it seems. With the current resurgence of the franchise i think people are enthusiastic enough to get a new arena for the Kings in sacramento .

Well, I can't speak for other Laker fans, but my main interest is because if the deal doesn't get done, there's a rumor the Kings could move to Anaheim.

There was a article on our local paper a few days ago, stating that Sacramento is trying to strike a deal for a new arena quickly because the fear of moving the team to Vegas is actually moving closer from a wild rumor to actually being a reality.

that's true, citizens dont want their tax money to go into the new arena.
about a week ago they had a meeting on building the arena in over a abandoned railyard in downtown sac which will also bring in more business for downtown..but again it still looks like a no go...

http://futureofthearena.com/ gives a timeline of what happened in the past year to now

there was a poll done and the percentage actually show that it went down compared to the previous year when they were seeking a new arena...something from like high 40s to low/mid 30's i believe...

and a lot of people want to keep the kings here, simply because there's nothing else to do/watch besides the A's triple A team, but they won't/don't want to pay for it
