LeBron will get it. He generates sales, he's the poster boy of the NBA now. I actually want Gilbert Arenas or Elton Brand to get it, they need recognition. They're superstars who don't have solid media support because their teams are in Washington, DC or the other team in LA.
Lebron is going to get it. His shoes sales are not on-level with the immortal Jordans, but they're up there. He's also the NBA's "Golden" child. I'd be surprised if Kobe got it..

They base it on the players marketing power and star power. Kobe can sell items with the best of them, but he has a black mark on his record because of his trial. Gilbert Arenas is more than deserving, but he doesn't get the recognition he deserves because he's in DC. Elton Brand deserves the cover, as well, but he's on the other team in LA and plays a "boring" style of the game. Shawn Marion isn't as marketable as LeBron or Kobe, there's no way he'll get it. Dirk doesn't get nearly enough recognition for what he does in Dallas, he's not a big time face in the NBA and he won't sell many games. Iverson is another possibility, but over James? I doubt it. Paul Pierce? The guy is popular, but he isn't marketable, either. He won't sell copies like Kobe, Iverson, or James. LeBron? He has everything EA would want. A huge bandwagon, shoe sails, die hard fans...we're all "witnesses." He has the best shot at the cover.

What your "witnessing" is a fluke. Detroit Pistons will win game 6 and demolish the Cavs in game 7. I hope the Mavs win though, they need a championship. If the mavs don't win, I'd like to see Shaq win a title before he retires cause we know damn well Kobe has 5 more rings to go.
when you make 100 million on endorsements i think that means you are highly marketable, right now lebron as mentioned b4 is the face of the NBA.

I don't really follow who's on the cover on the other EA Sports games too much(but I do Madden, because everyone always mentions it when they announce it), it doesn't really matter to me who is on it, all that matters to me is the gameplay and the franchise modes.
