<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's expected the team will announce, perhaps as early next week, that Mauricio Gherardini, the well-respected boss of Benetton Treviso of the top league in Italy, will join Toronto as Colangelo's assistant general manager.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Likely to follow should be a purge of the Raptors' bloated, nepotism-filled scouting staff.

Jack McCloskey, a consultant to the team who has been with Toronto since the Isiah Thomas era, will not be retained since he had such close ties to former general manager Rob Babcock and was also a steadfast supporter of the drafting of Rafael Araujo.

Norm Goodman, who was the high school coach of former Raptor general manager Glen Grunwald and who has been a part-time scout for years, will be given his walking papers, while the likes of former European scout Steve Young and Mario Fournier, who did some scouting for Toronto in Europe, are also to be shown the door.</div>

Good. I think its important that a new GM has "his people" in place. However I hope if that Keady leaving was his decision and not the new management forcing him out. I think a guy with that much experience behind the bench can only the benefit Sam Mitchell (or the new head coach) & the coaching staff as a whole.

Hmmm seems like Sam is on a tight leash now. If he's let go, who would you guys choose to be the next coach?

That's a far-fetched dream. Colangelo will hold on to Mitchell for another year as the scapegoat of another Playoff-less season.

Only if the Lakers accept that Eric Williams for Kobe trade that Babcock kept pushing.

IF we wer to fire Sam Mitchell the next coach I would want is Paul Silas. I dont know about you guys but what he did in Cleveland with what he had was pretty good.
