Why does everyone think we should try Marcus Banks? Smush is better than Marcus in my honest opinion. I think we should really look elsewhere.

Solid young PG who is a ballhawk and decent scorer. Hes very quick, good penetrator and nice shooter, not exceptional on offense but he can score decently. Hes a great defender and makes alot of steals, quickness hleps him alot here but hes still got decent size for a PG. Hes not really a pure PG but he can run a team just fine.

Yeah exactly, I don't see why everyone on this Lakers forum thinks that we should get Banks so much. I say we shop elsewhere.

Nothing jaw dropping will be on the market this offseason. Lakers mine as well pursue the tough defender in Marcus Banks.

How about because Smush Parker can't hit the mid range shot, can't finish on half of his drives, can't take his man one on one 50% of the time, can't defend 1/2 of the guards in the Western Conference, can't even stick with the quick ones (Paul, Nash, Baron).

Marcus Banks is much more talented and better than Smush, in my opinion. With the Wolves, he averaged 12 and 5. What did Smush give us, 12 and 3.

The thing that attracts me to him is his quickness. We need him desparately to stay with Nash, Parker, Baron, Paul, and etc. The PG spot has killed the Lakers for numerous years, it's time they change it.

At least we know the Lakers are in pursuit of Banks now. I guess Mitch really likes him since we did that Gary Payton trade.

Marcus Banks is simply a better PG than Smush Parker, and right now the better defender. I'm glad the Lakers are pursuing him in the offseason, because they need to upgrade the backcourt.

Adding Banks should also force Smush Parker to push himself harder so he doesn't lose his starting job.

I just don't want the Lakers to overpay for Marcus Banks. I'm hoping they use the MLE on two players instead of spending it on just one free agent.

The Spurs are also interested in Banks. Not Carlton Banks but Marcus Banks. [IMG]

Yup watching Devin Harris and Jason Terry do what they want on the court, is a good reason for Popovich to want Marcus Banks next season. And even more of a reason for the Lakers to make sure they get Banks.

It doesn't really piss me off that much. What does is Gary Payton's immaturity that cost us Banks.

Marcus Banks gambles way too much on D. I dont really like him now, but if he got a lot more consistent he could be pretty good. Shoots too much as well and not a very good passer.

No don't say that here apparently no one listens [IMG]

Exactly my thoughts, if he is better than Smush, Big deal. They both aren't that much better than the other, also I hate when Basketball fans bring up stats, there are some things that stats cannot show. Just because Marcus had 2 more APG than Smush doesn't make him a better player, and just because he is faster than Smush doesn't mean he is a better player. I don't want to add a money hungry young player who likes to shoot too much. Smush in no way shot way too much. Smush waited for the ball to get back to him if he was going to take a shot, the same can't be said about Marcus. I remember watching a couple games with him dribbling up the court and just shooting. Whether he made it or not doesn't count btw [IMG]
