Detroit News - Rob Parker of the Detroit News reports that if LeBron James does not re-sign an extension with the Cavaliers this summer, he will leave the club and sign with the Nets after the 2008 season.

James' $100 million deal with Nike doubles if he plays in Chicago, L.A. or New York.

Cleveland papers reported earlier in the week that the chances of James signing an extension this summer have increased because of the Cavaliers' strong playoff performance. [READ]</div>

Holy crap, it would double if he plays there. When 100 mil is a lot and it gets doubled! I don't think he'll get it though, since I think he's staying in Cleveland.

Nice job by the Detroit media to write an article in attempt to distract the Cavs team. I think LeBron and Nike already addressed this rumor and said there was no clause to double his contract deal if he signs with a large market team. I also think David Stern said it's against NBA rules for such a deal to exist.

The new CBA allows the team to pay the most money once their rookies enter the free agent market. I think LeBron is going to sign a max contract in Cleveland and remain a Cav for at least 6 more seasons.

It will get interesting when he has to sign his second deal. He's still going to be only 27 or 28 and if he doesn't have a ring by then I could see him bolting.

Wow, what an attempt to get the Cavs' minds off the game and worry about their superstar. Good Job bringing this up again Detroit News.
