Why do people get so annoyed with player comparisons? That's a part of having fun with the game. Drawing comparisons between current and past players. I swear, some people treat Jordan like he's sanctified.

He said something about how michael jordan led them pass the cleveland cavliers in jordan's third year and cleveland was considered a better team. He said it was Michael showing he was the best player in the game and Lebron did the same with the wizards and proving to be the best in the game.

You can't say Lebron is better than MJ or Kobe, because he isn't. So the next best thing would be throw out a silly hypothetical like "but in 5 years he'll be the greatest". Or they'll sit and say "well he's the best 21yrs old EVER".

Jordan and LeBron play different way's and have different roles in the team. Jordan's role was to basically score, LeBron's role is to be more balanced and do a bit of everything. It's like comparing Shaq and Iverson, but less extreme. If there was a great in which LeBron could be compared to, it would be Magic Johnson. Thanks! I couldn't find the Magic stats. By the way, Scottie Pippen said he would rather have LeBron (in his 3rd year) than Jordan (in his 3rd year), as a teammate. I see where he is coming from now, although I don't necessarily agree Also-- people who get annoyed with player comparisons usually can't even come up with a coherent argument about anything. "THARE DIFRENT PALYERZ!1111" No, ya think?

But broadly speaking, they are similar type players -- prolific scoring wing players that also have to create plays for teammates and rebound. It's not like there are dozens of players that fall into that category.

People act like the Cavs just barely got into the playoffs. They won 50 games. They should have been favored to win the series. Now, if LeBron manages to get past Detroit -- then that argument has a bit more merit.
LeBron is MOST DEFINETLY a better marketing machine than MJ was in his 3rd season. And at a younger age too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trench:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd rather have Magic Johnson his rookie year than MJ or Lebron their 3rd year. </div> I second that opinion...good one Trench. Magic is a more well rounded player than both Lebron or MJ but i do respect what both lebron and Mj do. its just that magic is the better overall player, IMO.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ManHops23:</div><div class="quote_post">I rather have a third year lebron he averaged 30 points like 6 or 7 assists and like 8 or 7 boards.</div> Yeah, Jordan averaged 7 more points, but LeBron made up for it in assists and rebounds, while having the same amount of TOs as MJ.

He had the exact same role as Lebron, except he was also a defensive stopper. So, no, they actually didn't have different roles, Jordan didn't average 32-8-8 by just being a scorer. The difference is in how they play, not what the roles are right now. Later when Pippen came, Jordan was less of a playmaker, though still one, and that's what Cleveland will need to do with Lebron. Actually earlier in the year he was doing less playmaking, with Larry Hughes doing more. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He said something about how michael jordan led them pass the cleveland cavliers in jordan's third year and cleveland was considered a better team. The Cavs were the favourites like durvasa already said.
