<font color=""Black""><font size=""1"">I see now why Kobe didn't win the MVP. Have you noticed that the players that win this award are the people the leauge look at as ideal. Let's look at this season. Nash, Lebron, and Nowitizki all finished better than Kobe in the MVP voting. All of these players possess a "good boy" image. Didn't know that was what the award was about. I thought that was for the player who was most valuable to his team.

<font color=""Red"">Did anyone notice that Kobe was the only player in the NBA this season that was on the First team All NBA and All Defense.</font> They say that Lebron is the complete package, but he is a liability to his team on the defensive side. Note: Tayshaun Prince averaged 21 points a game in the series, 7 ABOVE his season average. Why? Lebron can't guard anyone. He plays good transistion defense from time to time, but when it comes to the half court, he is invisable.

Like Jordan, Kobe is known for demoralizing you on the offensive end and shutting you down on the other side of the court. Hmm, is that a team player? People love to hate on him because he shoots a lot. Have you noticed that Lebron shoots a lot too? So does Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Ray Lewis and Paul Pierce.

The fact that Kobe didn't win the MVP still disturbs me because I think that racial motivation and spite were involved with that decision. Kobe has been noted as one of the most hated athelets. For what? He probably is the most competive player in the game. I hope that Mr. Buss can find him some help next season. He needs a big man. The Jermaine O'Neal/Kevin Garnett mold. Both of those players are unhappy with thier teams, maybe the Lakers are a good fit. I may be reaching with that. Kobe deserved that award this year, but he just don't have the strings attached to him, so he doesn't fit the role. What a shame.

AI won it a few years ago, and he is not exactly the NBA’s “poster boy”. I don’t buy that a guy has to be a model citizen for them to win the NBA MVP award. The Lakers record hurt Kobe a lot. Although, you can argue that without Kobe they would be in the draft lottery, a record a couple games over .500 record is still not good enough to earn you MVP no matter how good you are. Voters seem to look at the team record before they look at the player. I think there have only been two league MVP’s who won it with their teams record at or below .500.

good points BKS. although i do think kobe should have won, and he definetly deserved it, the records and standings mean a lot. i really think that if the lakers were a top 5 seed, kobe would have won. but considering they were the 7th seed, two seeds away from not even making the playoffs, it hurt his chances quite a bit

Yes, but a few years ago David Stern and the NBA was going after the hip hop market. I'm not saying Kobe should have been the MVP this season, but finishing 4th and not getting votes from 22 writers is absurd.

You can definitely make an argument for Nash winning it this year, I don't think he deserved it last year, it should have been Shaq. Looking back I probably would give Dirk Nowitzki the MVP.

    Interesting comments TimDuncan21..

That is a very good point, all-nba and all defensive. It shows that he is one of the best in the game at both ends of the floor.

We all know he is the best player offensively, but the all-defensive team show's he is one of the top 5 defenders as well.

Pretty incredible feat night in and night out.

You wanna know why Kobe didn't win MVP? Because Steve Nash's team is playing in the WCF, while Kobe will be watching him.

Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis had a kid?! Or did Ray Lewis just give up football and join the NBA?? [IMG]

Serioudly, don't even bring Ray Allen into this debate as someone who shoots a lot. Ray Allen has had a much more efficient career than Kobe as far as fg%, and the best thing he's had in the paint was probably Jermone James. Ray Allen doesn't really shoot that much anyway unless he's hot or its needed.

With the exception of Iverson a lot of those guys are more efficient than Kobe. I find it hilarious that you would mention Ray as someone who shoots a lot, but not mention Tmac.

Wrong, Kobe is a career 45.1% shooter, Ray Allen is a career 44.7% shooter. Kobe is actually alot better then Ray Allen in terms of shooting because he maintains a higher shooting percentage despite taking more shots. If Ray Allen took as many shots as Kobe, his field goal percentage will drop, as it generally does when you shoot more. I'm estimating it will drop to around 42-43% if he shot as much as Kobe.

First of all there's no need to compare Ray and Kobe..two different styled players. Now..we all know why Ray's fg% is lower...it's because of the amount of perimeter shots he takes. If Ray drove to the basket more often, which he can do just as well as anyone in this league, his fg% would be much higher. He can increase his scoring average more too because he'd go to the FT line more...but thats a separate argument...

There's no way that you can come into this debate and not acknowledge Ray Allen's career 3pt% of 39.9% in comparison to Kobe's of 33.6%.

Are you saying that Kobe Bryant is a better shooter than Ray Allen? Ray Allen shoots a lot more 3's, which is why his shooting % is a tad bit lower. For his career, Ray Allen has taken 12,138 shots and 4,396 3's, which means he shoots 3 pointers 36.2% of the time. Kobe Bryant has shot 13,003 shots and 2379 of them were 3's. That is an 18.29% of the time he shoots 3's. So Ray Allen has .4% lower career FG% despite taking nearly double the 3's.

Take this year for example, Ray Allen had over 100 more 3 attempts then Kobe Bryant, despite taking close to 700 less shots and he still had a better FG% than Kobe. 45.4% to 45%. Ray Allen is a career 39.9% 3 pt shooter and is one of the better shooters in the history of the game. While Kobe has only had 2 seasons over 35%(38.3 and 37.5-in his rookie year).

Shooting and scoring are 2 different things. Kobe is a much better scorer than Ray Allen, but you can't possibly say that Kobe Bryant is a better shooter than Ray Allen.

EDIT: I guess I was late, 2 others have already replied.

I didn't start this thing, I was just pointing out a little mistake in the fact that Ray Allen does not shoot a higher fg% than Kobe. His shoots nearly 40% from the 3 point line. Saying he is a better shooter may be wrong, what I probably meant to say was Kobe is more efficient when shooting.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">You sure about that? Ray Allen shoots a lot more threes than Kobe, yet look at his %</div>

Kobe shoots more shots overall. You were the one who talked about overall shooting, not just three point shooting when you said this:

"Ray Allen has had a much more efficient career than Kobe as far as fg%,"

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GatorsowntheNCAA:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you saying that Kobe Bryant is a better shooter than Ray Allen? Again, I used the wrong words. What it should have meant was that Kobe is more efficient than Allen when shooting. This is proven when you look at the career FG%, or for current comparison, this season's FG%.
