Bulls to Pick 16th in NBA Draft 2006

    Paxson
NEW YORK, April 21, 2006 ? Seven ties among teams that finished the 2005-06 NBA regular season with identical records were broken today through random drawings to help determine the order of selection for NBA Draft 2006, which will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The drawings were conducted live on NBA TV earlier today at the NBA League Office in New York City by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations. The results of the random drawings:

    Charlotte (26-56) won a tie-breaker with Atlanta
    Minnesota (33-49) won a tie-breaker with Boston
Houston (34-48) won a tie-breaker with Golden State
    New Orleans/Oklahoma City (38-44) won a tie-breaker with Philadelphia
Chicago (41-41) won a tie-breaker with Indiana (Bulls will select 16th overall)
    Sacramento (44-38) won a tie-breaker with Denver
New Jersey (49-33) won a tie-breaker with Memphis
For the first time in its 40-year history, the Chicago Bulls and general manager John Paxson did not own a single draft pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. (Phoenix owned the rights to Chicago?s first round pick, 21st overall, after the Suns and Bulls draft night trade two years ago that sent Jackson Vroman to Phoenix for Luol Deng and a future conditional first round selection.)

This year, Chicago also owns the rights to New York's draft pick due to the Eddy Curry trade. The Knicks' pick will be no worse than the fifth overall selection. NBA Draft Lottery 2006 will be held May 23 at the NBA Entertainment studio in Secaucus, New Jersey.

2006 FIRST ROUND DRAFT CHOICE ORDER

The teams entered in the lottery, to be held on May 23, 2006, are as follows (note: the first three picks in the Draft will be determined by the lottery and the remainder of the ?lottery teams? will select in positions 4 through 14 in inverse order of their consolidated standings at the end of the regular season):

TEAM RECORD LOTTERY CHANCES (out of 1,000)
    Portland 21-61 250
New York (To Chi.) 23-59 199
    Charlotte 26-56 138
    Atlanta 26-56 137
    Toronto 27-55 88
    Minnesota 33-49 53
    Boston 33-49 53
    Houston 34-48 23
    Golden State 34-48 22
    Seattle 35-47 11
    Orlando 36-46 8
    N.O./Ok. City 38-44 7
    Philadelphia 38-44 6
    Utah 41-41 5

The order for the remainder of the first round picks is as follows:

    15. Milwaukee (To New Orleans/Oklahoma City) 40-42
    16. Chicago 41-41
    17. Indiana 41-41
    18. Washington 42-40
    19. Sacramento 44-38
    20. Denver (To New York via Toronto and New Jersey) 44-38
    21. LA Lakers (To Phoenix via Atlanta and Boston) 45-37
    22. LA Clippers (To New Jersey via Denver and Orlando) 47-35
    23. New Jersey 49-33
    24. Memphis 49-33
    25. Cleveland 50-32
    26. Miami (To LA Lakers) 52-30
    27. Phoenix 54-28
    28. Dallas 60-22

Hey, I was wondering do the Bulls get the Knicks pick next year also? No matter where the Knicks finish?

Wow, all for Eddy Curry. HAHA.

Well, this team is gonna be STRAIGHT after this draft. Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, and two picks in top 15. They could have those guys starting.

Yeah, Bulls just get the pick that's higher in the draft. Hopefully it will be the Knicks in the lottery again.

Yes, we certainly did cash in on Thomas. We're picking 2 and 16 this year and more than likely in the lottery again next year.
