    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS -- Good riddance, Cleveland.

And take that weak offense and Michael Jordan wannabe, LeBron James, with you.

One day, James will probably get the best of the Pistons and move forward in the postseason.

But that time is not now.

The only reason the Cavaliers had to endure a Game 7 beat down, 79-61, on Sunday was that the Pistons gave them a chance with some poor play in this best-of-seven series.

On the surface, it appears as if the Cavaliers took some major steps and pushed the Pistons to the limit. In reality, the Pistons made the Cavaliers look a lot better than they are.

The Pistons allowed the Cavaliers to win three straight games because of turnovers and missed free throws.

Sunday's game was a perfect example. At the half, the Pistons led only 40-38. A nailbiter? Not when you realize that the Pistons missed 10 free throws in the first half. The game wasn't as close as most thought.

It was like that the whole series. In the three games the Cavaliers won, the Pistons did most of the damage to themselves.

They just didn't play solid basketball. Even so, two of those losses were by two points.

And in three of the Pistons' four victories, they played well and cruised to victories.

Sure, fans were scared for a minute. Sports-talk show hosts, no doubt, added to that fear.

The Pistons, on the other hand, never gave up on themselves because they knew they could play better.

"I have to give them credit when you're pushed to seven games," Pistons president Joe Dumars said. "If you're asking me did we play our best, absolutely not.

"I thought we played 50, 60 percent of who we are. And I think our play had something to do with this series, as well."

It's one thing if you played your best and were down, 3-2, and didn't have an answer for what was ailing you.

The Pistons had the answer all the time. They just had to apply it. They played great defense in the series finale, limiting the Cavaliers to five field goals (5-for-26) in the second half.

"This is impressive," Dumars said, looking at the stat sheet. "We still play defense."

James, who was 1-for-9 from the field in the second half, pulled a lame move, walking off the court without giving congratulations to the Pistons for what they were able to do, come back and win the series.

"I was disappointed that we lost, of course," said James about his thoughts as he walked off the court.

"We were right there, we had a chance to win the series at home, but things happen."

Many took notice of James' disappearing act. "Who cares?" said guard Lindsey Hunter, who provided a huge spark in the third quarter. "They can watch us play Miami."

It's hard to imagine the Pistons will play as poorly in the Eastern Conference finals as they did in the second round. It's just not possible.</div>

He's basically giving the Cavs no credit for taking the best team in basketball to 7 games. Appearantly, beating them in two highly defensive games was strictly coincidential.

Ah well, you had to expect these articles.

Wow its amazing that this guy actually gets published, give credit where credit is due. Even if Detroit did play badly the series went 7 games. Nobody thought the cavs would last as long as they did. Had detroit lost this guy would have nothing to say.

Your team barely won against the cavs, and now they are going to loose to the heat. It's the pistons that don't deserve respect.

Had detroit lost, he would be ranting on how great the cavs are and be dogging detroit. What's funny is watching these detroit fans admire this author when he is nothing more than a front runner.

the won a championship against a highly favored lakers team, then made it to the finals and took the spurs to game 7, then won 64 games this season and still might win it all. Id say they deserve some respect.

that writer didnt rip on Lebron James all that bad. he just said that the Pistons let the Cavs get closer than they should have gotten

Well, looks like Miami has advanced. I underestimated Wade, that guy is getting to be too damn good.
