LeBron's goal for next season: "Win the championship" <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND -- Less than a day after losing a Game 7 that he has no plans to ever watch on tape, LeBron James stated without a moment's hesitation his goal for next season: "Win the championship," James said Monday. "Simple as that." As James learned, he can't win one by himself. Posting incredible statistics nearly every time he took the floor, James pushed the Cleveland Cavaliers deeper into the NBA playoffs than they had been since 1992, when he was 7 years old. But a merry month of May in Cleveland ended in ugliness on Sunday, when a 79-61 loss to the Detroit Pistons exposed the Cavs for what they still are: a one-man team. With a date with Miami in the Eastern Conference finals dangling in front of him, James was abandoned in the final game of his first postseason as a pro when he made more field goals (11) than his teammates (9). Still, James came away feeling good about the future. "We did a great job this year of making the playoffs, but our goal is higher now," James said. "We've got to mentally focus on getting better this offseason and come back and win the championship."</div> Source It's possible if they get more role players to support Lebron.
The cavs took the best team in the NBA to 7 games and 3 quarters before loosing. It's not going to take much next year to win the championship if we get the right players.
^^^I wouldn't say their reigns are coming to an end...a couple of role players and SA are legit title contenders, and the Pistons ain't goin nowhere....but yeah if the cavs can aquire a point who can shoot, I think they have a legit shot next year.

You should go to LA and try out for a comedian job. I'll root for you.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">No, because we all thought his goal was to finish with a losing season...</div>Did we come into the Head board an roll our eyes when Wade said he wanted to work on his defense next year. Both are obvious statements, but we didn't feel the need to roll our eyes.
I'd like to see the Cavs beat the Pistons AND Heat before they talk about moving passed the East. Favoritism can only take you so far in the league. The title contenders can overcome that any day as what happened against the Pistons.

But to be honest, next year the Heat will be weaker, because Shaq will be a year older....the top 3 teams in the east next year, "should" be the Pistons, Cavs, and Heat.
The problem with the Cavs is that they need to rest of their money to resign Lebron. This basically takes them out of the FA market, they can't afford to sign anyone. Which means that they'll need to resort to trades.
^^^signing hughes and Z for all of that money wasn't a smart move....I think Barbosa will be a FA, if the Cavs can get a sign a trade deal (maybe involving Gooden) that would solve their problems at the point

Oh, Lebrons been playin for 3 seasons and he is still a rookie in the playoffs. Now that they know just how much damage Lebron can do, you can guarantee, the players and coaches wont take this Cavs team lightly. Its going to be tough next year. Expectations are high this time. Lebron and Co. didnt have any expectations this season except to compete. Its a new ballgame now.
