when the lakers brought on Malone, they were right up there with those Malone and Stockton Jazz teams that I despised so much...lol......I never liked Shaq, Kobe, Phil, or Rick, but to top it all off they added the one player who I probably despised the most.

I can never get that picture of Malone and Payton after they got signed holding surfboards. I just hated everything that team stood for.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting briang8818:</div><div class="quote_post">Cleveland is infected with bandwagon fans. It's disgusting how many of them think basketball was created by LeBron James. They're not the worst bandwagon fans, that belongs to the Lakers, who's fans switch over to Clippers games when the Lakers aren't on top.

I can at least say Cleveland fans wouldn't do that.</div>

For an example see Jack Nickulson (sp). When I was little I guess you could call me a bandwagon fan, I liked the Bulls, Bills, Mariners. All teams that were great. But growing up I stuck with them through everything.

GO MAVS!!! I'm a Lakers fan but after what the Suns did to both L.A. teams Id be angry if they went on to win the championship. I'm on the dallas bandwagon any more room for clipper fans?

Bandwagon fans? Oh, there is so many. Too many. Alot of Heat and Suns fans this time of year. lol. Earlier in the playoffs it was Cavalier fans. They are everywhere. Its a cancer you can never get rid of in professional sports.

    I think its funny.

Seeing as how I have lived in Cleveland all my life and played on the same out door akron courts as James, I wouldn't really call myself a bandwagon fan but more of a greatful fan to take part in supporting a team that has the future NBA best player of all time on it.

    Come with it.

What exactly is wrong with "bandwagon" fans? I know it's a derogatory term, but I never understood why its a big deal.

My biggest problem is when they try to equate themselves with hardcore fans. I got no problem in general though. They're necessary to keep the League running.

How do they try to equate themselves with hardcore fans?

By boasting about how they've always supported whichever team they're currently rooting for. For example, the Raptors had a small but dedicated fan base for the 6 or so seasons before they started to show signs of success. When they made their two playoff runs, the new fans were often the most vocal about they're support for the Raps. No problem with that. But 4 years later, those same fans will insult the team as an embarrassment while that same dedicated base has held their support the whole time.

As Chutney said bandwagon NBA fans are needed.

The only thing I hate about bandwagon fans especially here in Miami is they just became fans when we got Shaq and they are the ones that have tickets to every game, when true fans like me are watching it on tv..[IMG]

But its not that big a deal, all in all it just brings more people in the movement and it means more people rooting for your team.

Same here, I'll follow the Pistons no matter what happens, if we got 0-82 next season, i'll still follow them.

    Are you from Detroit?

If not, why such an attachment to the franchise?

Well in their defense, how can you like a team that sold their championship team TWICE? They buy it to win, then they trade everyone, not just once but twice. I wouldn't be loyal to a team like that.

btw, I was the same way as SebP. WHen I was younger, my parents were big Orioles and Redskins fans. Both were good teams then, the Skins won a couple of Super Bowls and the Orioles were always contenders, but I couldn't ever see an Oriole game and the Braves were good and were always on TV, so I liked them. The Magic I liked, because we got Shaq. Even through the tough times though I am a Magic, Braves(tough times=playoffs), and Redskins fan.

Good question, I actually live in Australia and have never been to Michigan (I hope to one day though), and well I've just always had an attatchment to Michigan, when I was younger I was into Eminem and the Insane Clown Posse (both from Detroit) so I sort of grew to know about the area and stuff, so when I got back into the NBA I just decided to follow the Pistons. I go for all the Michigan teams now.

That's interesting. Are there many others in Australia who follow a particular NBA team like you do?
