We pick at #11. I think we all agree that we need a SG/SF. Here is a list of players that we should look at. <u>Pretty Much Unattainable</u> Rudy Gay Adam Morrison <u>Must trade up to get</u> Brandon Roy Rodney Carney <u>More likely</u> JJ Redick Mardi Collins Shannon Brown Ronnie Brewer Richard Roby Maurice Ager ---------------------- My list would be... 1. Brandon Roy 2. Shannon Brown 3. Rodney Carney 4. Ronnie Brewer 5. Mardi Collins 6. Richard Roby 7. Maurice Ager(don't know much about Roby/Collins, so he might move above both of them) 8. JJ Redick
I liek your lists and all, but i realized Reddick is at the bottom. Why does everyone not liek him? I think he would be a make a good fit in Orlando personally.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Remedy:</div><div class="quote_post">I liek your lists and all, but i realized Reddick is at the bottom. Why does everyone not liek him? He only averaged 2 RPG and 2 APG this past season at Duke.
If we re-sign DeShawn then JJ Redick will be a nice pickup. We need 3s. Do we want the weirdo-bone-arm guy?
I think with D12 getting more respect from teams, we need a good 3 point shooter like we had in dennis scott. Open the lanes, make room for D12 and Jameer to drive. With Reddick we have a proven shooter, thats what he knows how to do. His size doenst make him a liability like Diener is now. I think it would be a good choice, speaking that we have the following years free agent market to upgrade at the 2 or 3 spot. Also Reddick is a four year player under the greatest college coach, he brings a winning attitude to the team.

We definetely need our SG to be able to play defense, because we are starting Jameer, who is a defensive liability most nights because of his size. We need someone who would be able to guard the big PG's, we absolutely can't have both of our starting guards be defensive liabilities. He would be a good guy off the bench, but I'm looking at starters with the 11th pick and we can draft someone like Gansey or Novak or Allan Ray potentially in the 2nd round who can basically fill that shooter role off the bench.
My list- 1.Roy 2.Carney 3.Brewer 4.Foye 5.Roby 6.Collins 7.Redick I think we could draft Shannon Brown in the second round.

He is a freak of nature with his body and is extremely athletic. He's got loads of potential, which will get him in the lotto, IMO. Damn I've been talking to Voodoo too much.

But I still dont think he will be a lottery pick. And what position would he play for us PG or SG? He is like 6'3" so he cant play that big guard who can guard bigger guards. Yeah I guess you have been talking to Voodoo too much haha

Sometimes they started him at PF and he did pretty good defending college PF's, so he can guard the bigger guys. I don't want to compare him this way, because I do'nt want to give Voodoo the pleasure to reading it, but he is similar to Dwayne Wade(Voodoo told me this and the few times I've seen him, I agree to an extent). He's the same size as Wade and he can penetrate at will. He's stronger than Wade, so he would be able to guard bigger players, they won't be able to back him down. Now I'm not saying he will be anywhere near the level of Dwayne Wade, I'm just saying there are some similarities.

But looking at some draft sites they dont even have Brown getting draft(namely nbadraft.net). I say we go with a big sweet-stroking 2 guard who can create ala Ronnie Brewer, Mardy Collins, Richard Roby.

He is a great all around player. He does everything. I don't know too much about Mardy Collins and Richard Roby though. Do you have any analysis for them? The only thing that I've heard was Mardy Collins is a great defensive guy. EDIT: I knew I forgot someone, so I'm editing Maurice Ager in my original post.
Collins- http://nbadraft.net/profiles/mardycollins.asp Roby- http://nbadraft.net/profiles/richardroby.asp Ager- http://nbadraft.net/profiles/mauriceager.asp

Iam going by what DraftExpress.com has and its mock has us taken both JJ and Roby along with Daniel Gibson and Soloman Jones. Which they've also said Jones looked pretty good in workouts. Question: Anyone know anything about Andrea Bargnani hes rank #1 International player and is going #2 on the mock.
Wow, next year we might draft a guy named Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. I want a Magic jersey that says "Mbah a Moute" on it.
i think carney will drop down to 11, and as of redick (i dintfeel like reading all the post i just read the first 3 or 4) not only is he too one dimensional hes undersized for a sg and he only shots jumpers its not like he drives in the iverson (whos about the same size) to get fouled. i think the magic need a 2 or a 3

Redick is a decent size at 6'4, he's just not strong or athletic enough to guard the NBA SG's.
Haha, reading through this thread gave me a kick "Voodoo Child said this and Voodoo Child said that"... well, I'm here... and I'm ready to talk Shannon Brown. First of all though, for all of you who are unfamiliar with his game, I suggest you read my write-up on DraftExpress before reading any other site's profile - http://draftexpress.com/myscouting.php?page=view&id=55. I know for a fact that I've seen him more than any other scout out there, so that's probably your most reliable source. As for his draft position, the reason nbadraft.net doesn't have him projected in 2006 is not because they expect him to go undrafted but rather because they don't expect him to come out this year, which he still might not; he hasn't signed an agent yet. Either way, nbadraft.net is overrated. I used to be friends with a few of their writers, like Justin Young (now at Rivals.Com), but they've gone downhill over the years. Really, they just got lucky with a popular domain name and exploited that. Anyway, according to ESPN Insider, he recently destroyed the competition in a Chicago workout and now has lottery teams all over him. I'll quote it, but you have to pay to read the rest - <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Michigan State guard Shannon Brown worked out for roughly 15 NBA teams in Chicago on Thursday and lit up the gym according to NBA sources inside the gym. One NBA GM and two NBA scouts told Insider that Brown was "phenomenal." "His athleticism is off the charts," one scout told Insider. "He has that rare combination of athleticism and power that's usually only reserved for power forwards like Amare Stoudemire. He was amazing." The NBA people Insider spoke with said Brown, who worked out along with Arizona's Mustafa Shakur, Illinois' James Augustine and Wyoming's Justin Williams also shot the ball extremely well. One scout said he was impressed with another physical feature of Brown. When he shook hands with Brown after the workout, he was stunned with how big his hands were. "They were like catcher's mitts," the scout said. "I'm not sure I've ever seen bigger hands on a guard his size. That will help him tremendously in the league." Scouts also said Brown impressed with his energy on both ends of the floor. "Every drill he ran had a zip to it," the GM said. "As a team evaluating a player for the draft, that's exactly the type of effort you want to see from a kid. He laid it all out there. There's no question about what type of worker he is." Everyone agreed that the workout should significantly help Brown's draft stock with one scout and GM saying that the late lottery is not out of the question. The other scout said he'd rank him in the mid first round. Brown is still keeping his options open for returning to school by not hiring an agent, but word from Chicago is that Brown may enter officially soon based on the positive feedback he's hearing from teams. </div> ^ So with that said, don't expect to get the kid in the second round. In many ways, his talent was hidden at Michigan State, because he was playing along with wings like Maurice Ager and Alan Anderson (now of the Charlotte Bobcats), but if he went back to school next year, he'd most likely be the consensus preseason Player of the Year and boost his stock back to what it was in high school, where he was ranked #3 in the nation, behind only LeBron James and Luol Deng and ahead of the likes of Chris Paul, Adam Morrison, Charlie Villanueva, Marcus Williams, and many other NBA players or prospects. Height is really his only negative. If you can live with the fact that he's 6-4 (yes, 6-4, not 6-3, not 6-2), then you'll probably fall in love with the kid. He's got an unbelievable vertical (reported to be just under 50"), his shoulders are broad, his hands are massive, and he's built like a truck, so I'm really not too worried about his size, especially since he creates space for himself off the dribble so well. If Brown stays in the draft and is available (which is likely given the way Izzo has hidden him), then I'd take him no questions asked at #11. Here's some videos so you can get a feel for his game. It's hard to find any videos of college players on the net, so all I could find were some scattered highlights, but enjoy - 1 - This is a Michigan State team highlight from 2004-2005 (two seasons ago) when Brown was only a sophomore. It's just a highlight of the games from their tournament run, so don't think these are best highlights of Brown's season or anything; it's just some highlights from 4-6 games. The music's kind of annoying, and it's got a bunch of highlights of the other Spartans, so I marked the times that Brown comes on so you can skip through it real quick - http://youtube.com/watch?v=OGs71uyLsqo&sea...ichigan%20state 0:35 0:47 and 0:52 (back to back) 1:33 1:55 2:03 3:06 3:21 3:43 3:59 2 - Here's a video of one of his dunks. He's had better, but it kind of gives you an idea of his quickness and explosiveness - http://youtube.com/watch?v=vARuxOAkmak&sea...shannon%20brown
