I know this is not a revelation, but having a great back-up point guard and a guard who can play with Paul at times like Claxton did with success this past year is key to the continued dominance of the Hornets' backcourt. A priority should be keeping Claxton, but it will be difficult and I hope Shinn nows this. Surely the Hornets can take a couple of smart trades a la Phoenix getting Diaw to give them an underrated player ready to blossom in the right place. And the draft slection should be a starter on the front line and not a project. The Hornets should not overreach this year but look to step things up a notch. Have a similar start, avoid injuries with smart conditioning, trade J. R. Smith, the "King of NJ," but insist on a fair exchange, and overtake Memphis for the playoffs.
I agree that they should definitely try to resign Speedy, but it will be hard for them to win him over since he's probably going to be offered a starting job somewhere else.
