Shaq would have died in the old school NBA, just look at the scoring averages for the whole league, not just Wilt, look at all the teams, everyone was scoring 100 ppg, some teams were scoring something like 110ppg and probably more. There is no way Shaq could have logged 46mpg over his career like Wilt did. NO WAY. The fact that Wilt did it in a time where there was alot more fast breaking and uptempo play, is even more of a feat. Basically Shaqs size, would have been a negative in comparison to Wilt.
I love Shaq but I think Wilt is the best center of all time. I mean, its huge for center to score 100 points in a game let alone anyone score 100 points in a game.
Shaq is the G.O.A.T. Though not the most talented, but in his prime, Shaq was simply the biggest, strongest, and most agile bigman for his size ever. I've never seen Wilt dribble down court, crossover, spin, and finish at the rim. Shaq was unstoppable in his prime, they barely even had guards doin that back in the 60's.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BlueBayou87:</div><div class="quote_post">Wilt even lead the league in assists one year.</div> he didn't lead the league in assists per game but total assists and fresh prince dr j didn't play in the nba during wilt's era he played in the aba.
Th eone thing about Wilt though was that he was a stat-padder. Once you get past that, he's argueably the NBA's greatest physical specimen. He had the track-speed of a guard, strength of Shaq(to some extent), and vertical leap of a swingman. Absolute freak of nature.
No, many people have said this before and there's a reason why his PPG went down. He decided to focus on gettin the assists crown.
I can't really compare Shaq and Wilt directly. The eras and level of competition, as well as number of rebounds available, as well as how strength training affected the players and the league in their eras. I'm staying away from declaring a greatest center.
i dont even see how this is close. many would argue that shaq isnt the greatest of his era, so how is he the best ever?
How isn't Shaq the greatest in his era? Superman has 4 rings and won with two different teams. Both conferences too (Much like Wilt?).

Shaq is not the most dominant of his era. He's the most dominant post-Jordan. You can also make an arguement for Hakeem being more dominant because it was his team that dominated when Jordan was out.
I think its safe to say that Shaq had a better career and was more dominant than Hakeem. Don't get me wrong, I think Hakeem had the best skill set for a center, ever.

That's physically IMPOSSIBLE to do that in this day in age. That's why I don't understand why you bring up averages from 40-50 yrs ago. Put things in perspective, THIS IS NOT THE 60's. Nobody can average 50pts in this day in age, LET IT GO. However, if you happen to be 7'1 playing against centers NOWHERE near ur size, height, and strength then it could be possible. Shaq in his prime was the most dominant ever. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting THEFRESHPRINCE:</div><div class="quote_post">if shaq was sooooooo unstopable then why didnt he average 50 points and 20 some rebounds for a season. these numbers are simply out of this world. and i think someon said it earlier but he is the only person to get 20points 20boards ad 20assists in a game! i also think he may have more 20 10 5's than kg. and i guess pistol pete and dr. j were horrible players too. they played in the wilt era. they could do a spin move. heck, many people say thay pistol is the greatest passer/dribbler of all time.</div> If your gonna avg 50pt and 20rebs it better be in the 60's, because like i said, it ain't gon happen it todays game. If he was playin right now, post civil rights era, hiphop generation, his numbers would be alot more down to earth. Wilt also might not be the greatest of his era, you also have Russell & Kareem (Lou Al Cinder back then). So that argument works both ways Freshprince.
