Today, May 25th, 2006, marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of Sublime front man Brad Nowell. He died from a Heroin overdose, and had been struggling with his addiction. To people who havn't heard of Sublime, I strongly suggest to start listening. They mix styles like punk, reggae, blues, ska etc. and make a unique sound that no one could ever copy. If you need some tunes to listen to while you are blazing, their is no better music (maybe Bob Marley, but I like Sublime better) to listen to. To read up a life story about Nowell, go here:

If you haven't heard of Sublime, then you haven't lived.

While the self titled album isn't my favorite (it is top 5) It is probably the easiest CD to listen to start to finish. There is no weak spot, and it's truely a masterpiece.

I remember the day he died, my whole day severely sucked.

Please don't tell me that myself, briang, VC, Run BJM, and Shard are the only Sublime fans on this forum.

The Music forum is just generally quiet.

Besides, this is centrally a bball forum, a target market that usually listens to rap or hip-hop.

    Anyway, RIP Nowell... [IMG]

Yeah, I guess your right. It's a shame, because I even googled Nowell today under the news section, and not ONE story about him. I also have listened to my local rock stations on the radio, and not one mention of him. It's a shame Nowell cut his life and career short right before Sublime hit it big. He is one of, if not, the most underrated musicians in music history. As it says in the article, Nowell is to ska, what Cobain was to Grunge. RIP Brad, we'll never forget you.

Listening to their self-titled album right now. Got it at Best Buy today for about 6 bucks.

Innovative band and definitely one of the best to remember that have come and gone. Tragic ending for Nowell, but this is life and that type of thing happens to people every day sadly enough. I've had friends pass on from this drug's addiction. R.I.P.

Yep, although they didn't make a whole lot of music I'm glad we could get to hear what they did make because it's just awesome. Nowell died way too young and you're right it is common for people to OD and die from drugs, especially heroine. I can remember being like 8 years old and rushing to the hospital at 2 in the morning because my half sister ODed on heroine, luckily she lived and shes been clean for a while now but alot of people don't make it, just like Nowell.
