One rumor swirling around many chat groups and forums has the raptors trading the 1st overall pick to Portland, for Telfair and the 4th pick....any thoughts?

That seems logical, Telfair is a bright young point guard who owuld complement Bosh and Charlie vey well. The fourh pick still gets you a top tier player in the draft. I'd do it if I were Toronto, maybe Portland feels they won't be able to get who they want at 4.

I'd do it in a heartbeat but why in the world would Portland do it?? At the fourth spot, they could get someone who's equally as talented as someone in the first so throwing in Telfair would be downright dumb. Besides, they're at a point where they need to fill up any spot on their roster so they can't draft based on need. I think the only trading partner we could get would be a team that's in need of a powerforward and has all the other positions locked.

Sounds to me like this is just another unsubstantiated rumour coming for wishful Rap fans... but I wouldn't complain if I were wrong though [IMG]

If there is a pointguard in Portland I'd like to see in Toronto, it's not Telfair, but rather Steve Blake...if he's still there. I never liked Telfair's game- he's tiny, looks soft and doesn't really have any charisma.

I'd much rather take Jarret Jack. Not a big fan of Telfair.

Well, Portland might want to move up in order to be in a position to grab a power forward. It doesn't look like they'll keep Zach Randolph, so a guy like Bargnani or Aldridge would make sense. They also have a glutton of point guards and unloading one would be sensible, although I don't know if they'll be willing to give up Telfair. They've been exceptionally high on him and just two years in, Telfair still has a bright future.

It's still plausible that they'd want to move up but that would mean that they'd have to be REALLY high on either Aldridge or Bargnani to have to give up Telfair in the process. At the moment, it seems like Portland's content with the talent available at the 4th spot so that's why I don't see how this rumour could be true. Switching Jarrett Jack w/ Telfair would probably make better sense though...
