<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons are in the NBA semifinals, while the Timberwolves failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year. But Wolves vice president Kevin McHale said Tuesday his team isn't as far from contention as some people might think.

"I don't see a big chasm," McHale said after working out a handful of potential second-round draft picks at Target Center. "You can make some big strides in our league very quickly by adding a player or two or three. All of the teams still playing right now have holes and weaknesses like all teams do. There is no perfect team or perfect player."

McHale, who has a handshake deal with owner Glen Taylor, reiterated that both Kevins ? himself and star player Kevin Garnett ? will be with the Wolves when next season begins.</div>
