"The Orlando Magic are trying to move up from No. 11 in the June 28 NBA draft and, according to league sources, have talked to two teams in hopes of improving their chances of landing either Connecticut small forward Rudy Gay or Duke forward/center Shelden Williams," writes Brian Schmitz of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. "NBA sources tell the Sentinel that the Magic have had discussions with the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets about swapping picks or having those teams pick for them." Hmm... Looks like we may trade up with Magics for their 11th pick.. If we do end up trading them.. Who do u want from the Magic?.. Gimme ideas and suggestions http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...?coll=orl-magic
Won't mind getting a shooter like Travis Diener or a guard like Deshawn Stevenson from the Magic, but they'd hardly be sufficient for the 8th pick. I won't really mind the Rockets staying at eighth anyway, and if Orlando is really looking to get Rudy Gay, number 8 might be too late for them.
If they are trying to move up for sheldon or gay does that mean that we are not interested in them or they are intersted in those players?

That doesn't mean the Rockets approached the Magic about trading down. Orlando could have initiated the discussion and gave the Rockets an offer. Like any other team, Houston bargains and we're at where we are now: negotiations, I'd presume.
How about or 8th for Trevor Ariza and there 11th. In the end it would be T-Mac for a #8pick in a mediocre top10 draft. Man talk about getting ripped off.

The Magic are just picking three places down, and this is a draft where you'll likely get the same quality player at #8 as you would at #18. In fact, the only player that the Rockets are apparently targeting who'd likely be off the board at that point is Shelden Williams, but Rodney Carney would likely still be there, and if not, that'd likely mean that players like Foye, Redick, or Rondo would have slipped to #11. Anyway, how about the rights to Fran Vasquez, Travis Deaner, and the #11 pick for the #8 pick? If Vasquez is really coming over in another year like he's rumored to be, this could be a hell of a steal for the Rockets.

It wouldnt hurt to get vazquez in the process.

I don't know why you're down on him to be honest though. He's not going to be a big contributer or anything, but it's nice to have someone who can shoot 45-50% from long range with consistency like Diener coming off the bench, especially in clutch situations.
I wouldn't mind Ariza & Carlos Aroyo (or however u spell it lol)....If we trade, we're gonna need players that can contribute immediatley. After watchin Miami, Dallas, Pheonix and San Antonio, it's just more proof of how far we are from competing for a ring. 3 keys........ 1) Athletism 2)Shooting 3)Rebounding
all of that is solved by 4 names in this draft 1)Rudy Gay 2)Ronnie Brewer 3)Rodney Carney 4)Pj Tucker

Anyway basically we have our core Dwight, Jameer(I don't believe we would have made that trade to get Jameer if we weren't going to trade Tmac), Darko, Arroyo for Okafor(if we were keeping Tmac, that's who we woulda drafted), Tmac, Juwan Howard(not a big loss), Reece Gaines(is he still even in the league?), and Tyronn Lue. btw, how's the trade working out for you? Another 1st round exit by Tmac and a lower lottery pick, sounds good to me. So basically we would have been where we were with 0 role players around Tmac and him just carrying us to first round exit after first round exit, but instead we are sitting very nicely with a good future. About this trade. Stevenson is a pretty good role player he might be able to cover the 3 spots, since like Voodoo said picking from the #8 pick to #11 pick isn't good. Vazquez would be a huge risk, but I'm still in the mindset that he will be a good player IF he ever comes over. The big question is IF though. I would want to try to get high enough to get Roy, he's the player that I'm the most interested in. And I believe Carney/Brewer should still be available at 11.
well if the Rockets are planning to Redick, then a trade down to 11th or even as low as 14/15th wouldnt be a bad idea...althought i really dont want Redick's one dimensional play in Houston...
I highly doubt the Rockets willl draft Redick. They know the risk involved with Tmac now. THey need to get taller in the back court. Not even more athletic, just taller so they don't get shot on.
