<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Six NBA prospects got a taste Thursday of what a Scott Skiles workout is like. And at least a few of them found the two-hour session at the Berto Center to be as sweet as it was sweaty.

Included in that group were Chicago-area natives Shannon Brown (Michigan State and Proviso East) and Sean Dockery (Duke and Julian), as well as Arkansas' Ronnie Brewer, who has decided to forgo his senior season.

"It was a tough workout, and it went extremely well,'' said the 6-2, 190-pound Dockery, who is hoping to impress enough in workouts to be a first-round pick in the June 28 draft.

"This is my third one. I've been to Memphis, Utah and Chicago now. I think I'm going to do three more. I go to Toronto and then Orlando [for the league's pre-draft camp next week].''

Dockery is close friends with Bulls guard Chris Duhon, his former teammate at Duke, and the two talk almost daily.

"He told me it was going to be a tough workout,'' Dockery said. "Scott Skiles pushes you. [Duhon] told me to come in and be confident and have fun and do the little things. That's what I did. I just did what I'm comfortable with: lead the team, play great defense and hit my open shots.''

North Carolina forward David Noel, Louisiana-Lafayette guard Dwayne Mitchell and Tennessee-Martin forward Jared Newson also attended the workout.

As for Brown, he has yet to sign with an agent -- though he's being advised by Chicago-based Mark Bartelstein -- and could return to East Lansing for his senior season. He said his decision rests on where he's projected to be drafted.

"I'm going to sit down with my parents and my adviser and see what the teams are saying and go from there,'' said Brown, who's listed at 6-4 but said Thursday he is "6-2 or 6-3 with my shoes on.''

Brown said he sometimes tires of questions about his height.

"After a while, it just gets old,'' he said. "If you go out there and compete, it doesn't matter how tall you are.''

Brown has been through six workouts with NBA teams.

"This was different because we had more players and we went a little bit longer,'' he said. "I think I'm [ready for the NBA]. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be going through this process. I'm not just doing it for fun, I'm doing it to make something happen.''

The Bulls workout came a day after Brown injured his right ankle during a workout for the Philadelphia 76ers.

"It hurt a little bit,'' he said. "I had to get it taped, which I'm not used to, but I don't think that affected anything too much.''</div>

Brown coming to the Bulls with the 16th pick would be the best draft possible, considering we get Aldridge with the number 2nd pick. He gives us another athletic player to add to the back court who can also penetrate and add excitement to the arena. I have a feeling Paxson is trying to acquire a second round pick or two he has worked out a lot of players that are not projected to go until round number two (Hassan Adams and Dockery for examples).

I thought the Bulls were looking for a big guard? Why would you go with Brown?

We might simple be looking to get the most value for our pick, and then address the need for a big guard through free agency. Drafting Brown would give us the ability to entertain offers for Gordon or Duhon should a trade we can?t refuse present itself. I think we would probably go with Brewer or Carney if they are still on the board though. Maybe even Shawne Williams.

I see what you are saying, but we already have tons of SFs. Well not tons, but Deng and Nocioni. I would rather go with a guard. Most prefarably, Douby. I love this kid. Maybe its cuz im from Jersey, but he led the Big East in scoring in only his 4th year organized ball. He can only get better.

Brown is a guard. Brown went to a final four with MSU, and has received some great reports from the workouts he has been to thus far. Some people even say he is the most athletic player in the draft.I will be honest I did not see much of Douby during the season which is why I?m not really giving any type of input on the supposed draft guarantee we have with him.

Well then, lol. You think he will be available with the 16th. If he is I mean take him. But I saw a lot of Rutgers games this year, Douby's a beast. I guess I would be happy if we take either player with 16 then.

I think there is a good chance he will be available at 16. The only teams I see that might take him before us are the 76ers or the Hornets. A lot of teams seem to be concerned with his height to play the two guard spot. He is listed at 6?4?, but said he is 6?2? about 6?3? with shoes. However, his numbers in terms of wing span, vertical, etc. more than make up for his size. He is also a good slasher something we need. Als both he and Skiles went to MSU so they share a connection. Not to mention he is an Illinois native.

I think he'll easily be there at 16, just matters if we take him. I don't think we will unless it's for something else.

Only player I would consider over Brown, should he be available at sixteen, is Ronnie Brewer. He has long arms, and great size, as well as the ability to play both guard spots. He has received comparisons to Andre Iguodala, because of his athletic ability, and huge wing span. He would fit into our defensive game plan well. Another thing I have noticed about all the players we are working out. They all seem to be players with the potential to be great defenders at the next level. Brown, despite his size, is still a great defender, as id Brewer, same with Collins. It seems like Skiles is trying to bring in great all around players, and not just scorers. We will be working about JJ Redick some time next week though. He is really one of the only exceptions.

I heard Brewer would fit well because his size, and have heard good things about him... But, is he the one where he had a injury when he was younger and he can't extend his arm or something and scouts don't like his shot? Never seen it though, just heard about it... Is it him?

BTW? No chance for Mardy? Is he that good, I heard he's a good athlete and can play combo guard.

I’m not sure about the injury thing, but yeah you are correct that scouts are concerned about his shot. They say his release point is too low, and he does not get his shot off in time. Some say he will not be able to get off quality shots in the NBA unless he is wide open. I don’t buy it for a second though. If Shawn Marion can get that ugly shot off there is no reason why a 6’7” combo guard won’t be able to get his shot off. Another thing that I’m loving about him is his length he is really long which means he will have an easier time guarding players, and probably force a lot of turnovers.

As far as Collins goes the billing on him is that he will be a solid player in the NBA, but never reach the level where he would be considered a “superstar” he is really a 6’6” point guard, but expected to play shooting guard in the NBA due to his size alone. He has a shot, but I would rather have Brown over him simply because of the potential factor with him. We ca afford to take a risk with the 16th pick, and not be criticized if it doesn’t work out.

I read an article that said Paxson doesn't like to take risks. That he plays teh drafts like he did his career safe. So Collins might have a better chance at being drafted by us at 16 then Brown and even perhaps Brewer.
