our school has a new "fad" with these drinks. everyone is drinking them now. i remember that a year ago, nobody even knew what these monster drinks were. anyone else's school going through this "fad?"
Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar. They've been popular for awhile. I don't prefer any of them, they can kill you. I used to be a Red Bull addict, though.

This fad is at my school too. Every morning kids come in drinking energy drinks. Honestly I think they taste nasty and the only good energy drink out there is Amp
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting vcwannabe15:</div><div class="quote_post">They can?</div> Yup Too much caffeine for your heart. One of my friend's cousin died the other month. His heart just couldn't handle it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post">its at my school too, and how much did the kid drink like 8 cans</div> Nope, 1 can. For some people, it's just way too much caffeine for their heart to handle, and their heart just shuts down.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting slpnsld23:</div><div class="quote_post">But thats really rare man.....</div> I know. I'm not saying be worried or anything, but you really shouldn't have more than one a day. I used to drink like 2 Red Bulls a day, every day. I then switched to Rockstar for awhile and my heart started to hurt all the time. So I switched back to Red Bull and it was fine, but I cut it down to 1 a day. I'm done with the now, after a while the buzz stops because your body gets used to it. If you don't get that it's like this: After one month of Monster, you're body will get used to the size of the can and you'll stop getting the energy buzz, therefore leading you to start drinking two. That's how heart problems will start. That's why it's becoming more common that people are dying from them.
It's because they're FULL of caffeine and it jump starts you. It's been proven that they actually make you perform worse in sports though, I believe.

From what I've read/heard, your body starts to compensate for the LACK of energy after the energy drink's burst passes. I wonder though, like in overtime, if you drank a can, would that suffice?

OT is really not the time to have a problem with cramping up... better to do endurance training and stick to hydrolitics like gatoraid & stuff like that then try the quick fix of a rockstar or redbull. but hey.. that is just my two cents... talk to a trainer to get more info on something like that. and the guy that died after one can? id say its fairly safe to say that there was already something wrong and the redbull was more of a contributary nature rather than the cause. one can of that stuff is not going to kill anyone unless there is already something going wrong with them.

Depends on who you ask. Some people are addicts and some people hate them. personally im so-so, i mean have one every once in a while but some of them are just plain nasty. I really only like Amp. But id say you should at least try one.
