Free agent Jay Williams is scheduled to workout for the 76ers on June 19. Williams is a former No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft and hasn?t played in the league since a motorcycle accident in June of 2003. Williams and Sixers President Billy King are both alumni of Duke University.</div>

Interesting, I think we can infer BK is looking for help at guard.

I loved Jay Williams during his time in Chicago, and I still love the kid. He seems to be 100% recovered from what I have read, and heard, from the people that have watched his workouts. Jay Williams had a triple double at the start of his rookie year, and played well throughout his rookie campaign. I hope we sign him.

If played Jay Williams played next season, what would that be technicly considered, his 3rd-4th season? I bet the guy is ready to explode on the court.

I wouldn't mind if we sign him. If this is suppose to be sort of a "rebuilding year" for us then give the kid a shot. He still has loads of talent, the same talent that made him a top ten pick just four years ago. Maybe he can turn into a solid point guard for us, the guy we were looking for that can manage the game well.

its going to be tough for us to sign jay williams. from what ive heard, he has worked out with a lot of teams, and may find a better situation elsewhere than the sixers

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Now, a guy who was in the gym during the Williams workouts says he still doesn't have an explosive first step - which was his biggest attribute in his rookie season - and there are concerns his left leg still needs lots of work. And there is going to be competition for him, if teams think he can play. I hear New Jersey is interested (they desperately need a capable backup to Jason Kidd) and he's probably going to work out for Philadelphia as well so Williams might have his pick of teams to sign with this summer. </div>

Even if he isn't the same, he is still good enough to play in the league. If the 76ers really are interested in J.Will, they'll offer him a contract.

    We'll see.

I wouldn't mind this signing, nor is a signifcant acquitision. I don't really care for him, wake me when we select Sheldon Williams, then we'll talk sixers basketball.

jay has shown that he can do really well at the point guard position in his rookie season. he was one of the top rookies of the class. unfortunately, he got into that motorcycle accident and it stopped his career (momentarily). i think that if he is 100% healthy, the guy can still turn into a star in the league, considering he is still very young

I never really saw Jay Williams, so I can't really talk, but if the Sixers play him in pre-season and Comcast Sportsnet broadcasts a game, I'll give my take. But right now I don't give a damn. I'm sorry but I just never saw him, I've gotten familar with this draft class though. BTW GO EAGLES!

Jay williams was on his way to being an excellent point gaurnd. I remember seeing the game where he got his first triple double against the nets, and he easily outplayed jason kidd. he would be a really good pick up for the sixers if he is anywhere near where he used to be.
